Rent a carseat or take ours
I am going away and I can't decide if I should rent a carseat from the car rental agency or just take mine. I am little worried about it going under the plane.

Re: Rent a carseat or take ours
When I went to FL we rented one from the car rental place. Honestly it wasn't a problem, it just took us awhile to figure out how to install it.

Re: Rent a carseat or take ours
Definitely check w/ your car rental company....I assumed Enterprise would have carseats & when I called they said they don't carry them, they go through a 3rd party company. When I contacted that company it would be a $59. delivery charge & $5. a day rental. We decided to bring ours instead & were glad we did as we ran into a couple that rented theirs & they said it was filthy & an older version.
ETA: we covered ours w/ a laundry bag (someone on here suggested that & it was great)

Re: Rent a carseat or take ours
We took ours with us (infant carseat), and it was fine. We brought that and the Snap n Go and checked both at the gate before boarding.
One thing, I would cover the infant carseat with something when it goes through security. Those belts are filthy, and our carseat wound up getting small burns in the fabric because it got stuck and no one was monitoring it.
Other than this, it wasn't a problem thoguh.

Re: Rent a carseat or take ours
I would bring it. I have read on other sites that the car rental seats are not reliable. Several friends said that they were dirty, old, no instructions to install, and you won't know if they have been in an accident. Even if you rent one you will still have to install it yourself.
The one that really makes me nervous is that you don't know if it has been recalled or in a prior accident.

Re: Rent a carseat or take ours
Definitely bring it! If there are any empty seats on the plane, you can bring it on and have a seat for her. Otherwise, you can gate check it and have it waiting for you on the other side

Re: Rent a carseat or take ours
We bring it and gate check it. I personally do not feel comfortable renting a carseat unless I absolutely have to, but that's just me.

Re: Rent a carseat or take ours
I have brought ours with it and checked it (we didn't buy a seat for DD)...I put it in the bag you can buy at BRU...for us it was just easier than worrying what the car place would have and if it would be clean.
