Re: Is it customary/ok/normal OR weird/WRONG/bizarre

help me out here..

my RE agent had a rep from a bank call us to get the process moving.

but I just feel like I could do it NOW, online, rather than wait to talk to her.

I don't think I should feel obligated, but I do, b/c deep down I am a nice girl. Chat Icon

shop for your own rates

first go to your bank

I wouldn't do it online- I would want to speak to people in person

example- lending tree- just takes you info and sells it to mortgage brokers as leads

I would NOT do it online. We got some numbers from our realtor and took it from there. DH also tried a non-connected person just for kicks. I PERSONALLY dont trust it online. GL.

I would make phone calls to different people- not just blindly send my info over the web-

the example I gave about lending tree is the main reason- you have no idea where you info is going to end up

I would rather speak to a person to make sure they aren't a 21 year old kid cold calling me

Jake called Bank of America to ask them about the "no fee" loan yesterday and the kid couldn't sell a live lead- or answer more then 2 questions about the loan products they have

with a house being the biggest purchase you are ever going to make- you should feel confident you are deaing with a true professional

hmm, ok. I see your point there.

now, we are basing this mortgage solely on my dh's income and credit. it will be only in his name.

can I call around to the banks or does he have to?

Re: Is it customary/ok/normal OR weird/WRONG/bizarre

I wouldn't do it online either. There is so much potential for hidden fees, confusing language, etc with these loans that I wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth. Even with answering all of our questions my head was still spinning.

Our house will also only be in dh's name and they wanted to speak only to him. However when it came to the actual application process they did want to see my bank account info etc

I did it online, a human called to follow up anyway. I went to a bank reccomended by a friend & a bank I had other accounts with, I didn't go putting my info in all over the place.

And yes, It is normal to try a few different plac es. You are not obligated to go with whomever the realtor suggests.
