On The Topic of Drunk Drivers..
The scumbag who killed my friend 7 years ago (this month on the 10th) is being released this week
I was told last summer it was possible this would happen by my friend's sister and my BFF, Heather, (Angl2001) confirmed it this morning.
We are not happy about this. We were able to have his parole denied every time it came. It just stinks that this is out of our hands.
It makes me sick that 7 years later our friend is still gone and this a-h*le is going to be free. He was an illegal alien and he is being deported.
I'm glad they are finally starting to crack down on the drunk drivers, but I wish they would have started sooner. I wish they would have changed the law before my friend was killed. Then at least this jerk wouldn't be getting out of jail this week.
I started writing letters to everyone in the governmentaabout the laws that I thought could help me and no one did anything until the Martin Heidgen(sp?) case year later.
I feel like it was a slap in the face to all those who lost a loved one or friend to a drunk driver before that happened. Just because it was a high profile case they decided to seek a murder charge instead of vehicular manslaughter. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic that they have changed the law, but why did it take so long? Why wasn't my friend's life just as important to fight for? Was it because the case wasn't highly publicized?
Sorry for the rant. I'm just upset about this. All the feelings I had the day they read his sentence are coming back.

For crimes such as this (totally avoidable) I always think "eye for an eye".
Why should he get out and be happy while you will ahve to suffer for your loss the rest of your lives?
The least I can say is I hope he and the people he is closest to learn from his lesson and NEVER drive drunk!

ITA, I think its pretty sad that there is nothing that keeps them there for the rest of their lives living with what they have done

That is terrible. At least he got 7 years... the person that killed my brother got 6 months and was on probation for 5 years.
