Moms (or Dads) of 2 year olds or older *Update*
At what temperature should I be overly concerned?
We are ranging at about 102.8 - 103.2.
She has had one dose of Amoxicillin (which I am keeping a close eye on - cause her daddy is allergic to it and it is her first time taking it)
And I have been giving her Tylenol.
I just don't know when I need to be overly concerned - since I did take her to the doctor, I just don't know when I need to say ok this is enough.
She has had a temp for 24 hours - that we haven't been able to get back done under 101.
Update:
Thanks for everyone that said to try Motrin. We gave that to her last night - her temperature went from 103.1 to 101.8 within a 1/2 hour. By 1 1/2 -2 hours later, her temp went back to normal and has been every since.
She is now running around like a regular 2 year old child

have you tried motrin. Tylenol never really knocked down a fever for my dc. Does she have an ear infection? give it two days for the amox to kick in.

Re: Moms (or Dads) of 2 year olds or older
My doc told us not to worry until 105! she was 104.4 at one point when she had coxsackie and it only went down to 103.7 with Motrin.
We were told to rotate Motrin and tylenol when it's high...Motrin, two 1/2 hours later Tylenol, two 1/2 hours later Motrin, etc.
Her fever broke on its own after about 4 days....but it's scary.
I was also told FYI, that a low-grade fever like 101 or 102 for a few days is more worrisome because high fever means they are fighting the virus off.
Hope she feels better soon.

I agree but would add that any fever is concerning if it is extremely hot out, they are refusing all liquids & your child can dehyrdate.

If it is not coming down after giving Tylenol and it has been constant for 24 hours I would call. If she was diagnosed already with Coxsakie or Roseola though I would not call because this is par for the course with those 2 illnesses.
I hope she feels better soon.

With the Tylenol - her temp goes down in the 101's.
Doctor just said that her one ear and her throat is red. She doesn't have strep.
Hydrating her has been a challenge - but she occasionally will have something. But she hasn't in a couple of hours now

You should give her motrin. My doctor recommends motrin for 101 or over. If her fever doesn't go down with in an hr you can then give her tylenol as well. (motrin every 6hrs and tylenol every 4hrs) after 24hrs the fever should be knocked out. I hope she's feeling better soon. Just curious, your doctor told you to use just tylenol for a fever that high?

Honestly, her doctor didn't even say anything about the tylenol at all. I had to call when I got home, cause I had forgotten to ask.
In all honestly, I HATE this doctors office and I am looking to change immediately - cause I can't stand any of them
This doctor didn't even ease my worries about DD taking the medication - I am soooo paranoid to her being allergic to it. (but she wasn't )
Thanks about the Motrin - I am going to send DH to get it on the way home from work, cause her temperature is not dropping.
