Yes. That is why I pumped with DS and will try that again this time or just go to formula.

Re: anyone feel uncomfortable with the idea of breastfeeding?

I have thought about it and it is kind of weird, but I am going to try. My sister did not and my friend who is due in January is definitely not going to because she is afraid of what it will do to her boobs aesthetically.

Re: anyone feel uncomfortable with the idea of breastfeeding?

Yes! I gave it a try (at DH's request) but I found it was just not "me". I tried about 3x and gave up. I kinda knew I didn't have it in me and I won't be doing it for baby #2

Re: anyone feel uncomfortable with the idea of breastfeeding?

It freaks me out a little, but at the same time I heard its a great bonding experience so I'm getting OK with the idea slowly....

Unfortunately for your friend, your boobs still do change when you are pregnant. Even if you formula feed, you have to go through your milk coming in, and that is something that changes your boobs FOREVER!!! lol

I'm afraid of the possible pain... they're sensitive as is! With Crouton attached it may be Chat Icon. I hope I can overcome that....

Re: anyone feel uncomfortable with the idea of breastfeeding?

I guess there is some level of weirdness but I bet that goes away after a few days. I am having twins and I am going to try my hardest to BF for at least 6 months(and pump too) the evidence, IMO is too overwhelmingly positive in favor of breastfeeding. NOT that I'm saying your kids can't be perfectly healthy with formula but for us-we are going to try to make BF work

Im going to give it a try, but I am a pretty private person when it comes to things like that and I will not feel comfortable feeding her everywhere and anywhere.

Re: anyone feel uncomfortable with the idea of breastfeeding?

You know i never thought i would feel that way, but i do. I had always thought that i would BF long before i even got pregnant, but the more i hear about it (effects of it) and the idea of it... just kind of makes me very uninterested in it. Chat Icon

I plan on pumping and if that doesn't work out, then formula it is! Chat Icon

I'm gonna try. I'm def. not a private person like that, I'm more concerned w/breast feeding and being a working mommy. I don't know how I feel about pumping it all the time.

Same here. I know the benefits outweigh my nervousness about it. If it doesn't work out, however, I'm not going to beat myself up about it.

Did you pump from birth?

I was never interested in BFing and now I am but I'm too uncomfortable about having a baby sucking on my boob (sorry). Can you pump from day one or did you BF for a week or so?

Me too. I'm just not comfortable with the whole idea and it stresses me out to even think about it.

Re: anyone feel uncomfortable with the idea of breastfeeding?

I was at first, but then when she was born it just kinda felt natural and very normal. But a lot of the lingo for whatever strange reason still iggs me out...like 'suckling', 'nurse', 'latch'...I dunno...guess I'm just a weirdo. But I did love BFing.

BFing doesn' change your boobs, it's the pregnancy that does it.

I did. He was in NICU so I pumped from the hospital on. I did it as long as I could but he was not gaining enough so I had to put him on formula.

Re: anyone feel uncomfortable with the idea of breastfeeding?

I just want to say, that YES, it was wierd to think about before dd was born, however, once she was born, it came TOTALLY naturally.....it is a WONDERFUL bonding experience. I would recommend at least trying it and see how you feel. I BF my dd for 3 months but also supplemented with formula. My next baby, I plan to try to BF for at least 6 months Chat Icon

Re: anyone feel uncomfortable with the idea of breastfeeding?

I agree with Stephanie. Before having DD- I KNEW I wanted to BF, but had the same reservations about what it would feel like. My breasts had always played a major part in my and DH's sex life- and I worried that it might be/feel weird.

The first few days were difficult, but with the support of my husband and an AMAZING lactation consultant, DD and I picked it up relatively quickly and I truly loved it. Pumping is too time consuming and not as efficient.

I weaned DD last month (11 months of BFingChat Icon ). I am so glad I stuck with BFing.

Re: anyone feel uncomfortable with the idea of breastfeeding?

I felt the same way. My plan was to breastfeed in the hospital and switch to exclusive pumping once I got home. Well, DS will be 2 weeks tomorrow and I am still breastfeeding. I totally changed my mond about it. it is a great bonding experience with DS and I really enjoy it - although sometimes I feel like I am a slave to feeding him. Give it a shot, you might enjoy it too.
