I don't believe this man for a minute. Seventeen hours is too long not to notice a child missing.

Re: Father Speaks About Son's Death In Car
Honestly---the father makes me sick. he's making it seem like its not his fault AT ALL---having the audacity to say that usually the older siblings watch out for this disabled boy who was only FOUR YEARS OLD!!
No one at ALL noticed that this child wasn't around????! At dinner time you mean to tell me that a developmentally disabled child that is 4 yrs old usually just "comes and grabs" his own food?? gimme a break.
3 calls were previously made to CPS about the family and they are blaming it on the "estranged daughter" -- well why is she estranged??? maybe we should look into THAT. perhaps you did NOT do such a 'wonderful' job you claim you did raising your children.

Re: Father Speaks About Son's Death In Car
Unbelievable...
“I want everybody to look at all the good things that we've done for 21 years for our kids,” he said.
There were at least three calls to Child Protective Services before this incident.
He was then asked how the boy was overlooked at dinner time.
“They usually go in and grab for themselves, and nobody ever mentioned Jason not coming to the table,” Rimer said.

Re: Father Speaks About Son's Death In Car
wow really thats insane. so for 17 hours you didnt notice a kid missing because the older ones never told you? Um your the parent. And to top it off he was disabled?????? I just do not understand how in the world someone thinks they did nothing wrong in that case. we arent talking 10 minutes we are talking 17 hours. how did you not notice the kid still in the car as you got out??????

OK..I was just about to post he didn't seem to upset by it. I had to go back and read the story again.
After seeing the replies above, I see I'm not alone in what I was thinking.
What a sad story. May he rest in peac

All I have to say is wow
Same here. I realized after I read it my mouth was open in shock.
I'm sorry, but how do you NOT realize your mentally disabled son is missing for 17 HOURS???
They rely on the older brother? I'm not buying it.

Re: Father Speaks About Son's Death In Car
SEVENTEEN HOURS! Sorryy, NOT acceptable.
since when does a four year old boy "grab" dinner for themselves...no less a mentally challenged one.
I am angry

Re: Father Speaks About Son's Death In Car
Thats horrible - how can he expect his other kids to watch out for that child? Especially if he has disabilities??? Heres a thought - if you can't keep track of your own damn kids, stop making so damn many of them!!!

Re: Father Speaks About Son's Death In Car
My opinion here is if you have 2 or 12 kids, you as a parent should and must always know their whereabouts. Do a headcount if you cant keep track of your kids. Otherwise, you shouldnt have had so many. Dumf F**ks!
And this comment makes steam come out of my ears: "In the family of eight, Rimer said the older brother usually watches out for the younger ones.
“He generally will tell us anything that's wrong. I trusted that he saw all them. And it never crossed my mind we had one dying in the car,” Rimer said.
You stupid, heartless prick!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How do you just word something like that???? UGH! I HATE PEOPLE!
Poor kid.............RIP!

Re: Father Speaks About Son's Death In Car
these are the stories that make me think abortion is sometimes the least painful way for the would be child.
to think of the terror that child faced as he slowly overheated to death.
overheated to death.
I can't wrap my head around it. at all.

Re: Father Speaks About Son's Death In Car
OK...as Im writing this 4 of my kids (aged 10, 9,9, & 5) and a friend (aged 9) are going swimming in the neighbors pool. DH is going with them b/c although the girls will keep somewhat of an eye on the 5 year old...THEY ARE CHILDREN and cannot and should not be responsible for a young child...
