Nick Hogan: Get Me Out of Solitary Confinement
Nick Hogan's attorneys requested Monday that he be moved out of solitary confinement, where the teen-age son of Hulk Hogan is serving a sentence for felony reckless driving.
Hogan, 17, spends 16 to 17 hours a day in a maximum security cell in a Florida jail where his food is delivered through a slot in the door, his attorneys said in a court filing seeking a transfer to monitored home confinement or the minimum-security area.
"Understandably, this situation creates an unbearable anxiety for a minor in solitary confinement," the papers say.
The confinement at Pinellas County Jail, according to his lawyers, "substantially amounts to cruel and unusual punishment for a juvenile and is not warranted for a non-violent first offender serving a probation sentence."
Hogan was sentenced last month to eight months in a Florida county jail after pleading no contest to charges stemming from the Aug. 26, 2007, car crash that left his best friend, John Graziano, in critical condition.
He was placed in solitary because the jail was not equipped to house a minor in the minimum-security area, which only holds adults, the court papers say.

i have to agree that i don't think solitary confinement is necessary or should be allowed in this situation, if the jail doesn't have suitable accomadations for him then he should be transferred to another jail

Hopefully it scares him so bad he never drinks and drives again. It would be fantastic if he comes out of this and becomes an advocate for the issue, but I doubt that will happen.

Why is he even IN maximum security?? I thought max. security was for murders and rapist.

Hopefully it scares him so bad he never drinks and drives again. It would be fantastic if he comes out of this and becomes an advocate for the issue, but I doubt that will happen.
Actually they never said as far as I heard that he was drinking and driving, just that he was driving recklessly and caused injury to his passenger. Solitary does seem a bit harsh.

Gee, I feel bad for him...jail is an unpleasant experience. 
I don't know how his lawyers say his crime was non-violent as his friend lays in a coma for close to 10 months. Although I realize he probably pleaded no-contest to drunk driving charges.

Apparently the jail is not equipped for incarcerating minors so they isolated him for his own protection/care. He is out of his cell 7-8 hours a day -- I wonder what the norm is.

why is he not in JV then?
I don't think he should be mixed in with adults - has he even finshed school?
anyway- I think his parents forced him to plead no contest- for the civil suit-
nolo contendere plea has the same immediate effects as a plea of guilty, but may have different residual effects or consequences in future actions. For instance, a conviction arising from a nolo plea is subject to any and all penalties, fines, and forfeitures of a conviction from a guilty plea in the same case, and can be considered as an aggravating factor in future criminal actions. However, unlike a guilty plea, a defendant in a nolo contendere plea may not be required to allocute the charges. This means that a nolo contendere conviction typically may not be used to establish either negligence per se, malice, or whether the acts were committed at all in later civil proceedings related to the same set of facts as the criminal prosecution.[3]

I thought he dropped out of school & earned or was going for a GED or something like that.

yep- I learned that in "you and the law" in high school
plus it's not an admission of guilt - he didn't have to admitt it in court
it was a good legal move on there part

I watched Nancy Grace last night and it just makes me angry. He should get more than just 8 months... I can't wait until he goes to prison and hopefully he become bubba's by0tch...
He seriously was crying to his mom complaining how small his cell is. And he is so upset he doesn't have a window view and he can't go to the beach.
His friend is in a coma and will be brain damaged and most likely won't ever walk again.
I'm sorry Nick but you should be worried about your friend who can't walk again because of your stupid behavior. At least you will be able to walk on the beach...

is it only me who feels the parents should have had some responsiblity here?
he is a minor. He had plenty of tickets...why did his parents buy him suped up racing cars? why was the car not taken away when he wasn't responsible?

In his recorded calls, he asked daddy for a "realality" show based on him coming out of jail and documenting how he changes.
His mother thinks that SHE'S suffering worse than his friend's mother.
Hulk also wondered (during the call) what Nick's friend did to deserve this. Like it was "karma".
