What's a good "fake out" drink?
I'm a wine & beer drinker, so I don't know anything about mixed drinks at all! My DH & I are going out tonight and I need a good drink that looks alcoholic (like cranberry and something). If I don't drink at all our friends will definitely know that something's up! We go out every Friday & I was exhausted so I missed last week and he said that right away they were all asking all night if I was pregnant! I'm afraid that if I don't look like I'm drinking tonight that they'll keep hounding me & it's wayyyy too early to tell anyone else yet! TIA!!

Re: What's a good "fake out" drink?
I don't know if it's OK to have, but what about non-alcoholic beer in a pint glass? I do know there is a small amt of alcohol in it, so I'm not sure if we are supposed to avoid it.
Sorry, I guess that really isn't any help

Re: What's a good "fake out" drink?
what about a sprite? it can pass for vodka tonic. thats what I used to drink all the time at client events. They are always making sure you have a drink in hand, so thats what I drank to make it look like alcohol.
Or a shirley temple? it can be vodka and cranberry?

Re: What's a good "fake out" drink?
I used to drink some type of flavored vodka and soda with lime. Now I just leave out vodka and it looks the same. I did it at a work event last week and nobody had a clue.

I always drank cranberry and sprite. You can always do cranberry and ginger ale too.

ginger ale with a slice of orange or a lime or lemon, always looks like a mixed drink. non alcoholic beer cranberry and club with a slice of lime.

Re: What's a good "fake out" drink?
I drank O'Douls and got totally busted by my boss on a business trip (dang his knowledge of all beers).
So i suggest cranberry and seltzer or a shirley temple and have them put a piece of fruit in it.

I drank sparkling water with lime to look like a vodka tonic. I also had virgin margaritas when I went to a Mexican restaurant with my boss.

Re: What's a good "fake out" drink?
I do a lot of social events for my company and I drink Cranberry and 7up
I swear by it. Its caffine free and sweet so I like it.
It looks like a mix drink so if I'm sitting no one even notices and if they see my bulge they don't lift an eyebrow.

Re: What's a good "fake out" drink?
since you go drinking with them every Friday night and you are a wine and beer drinker, if you order something different they are going to think something is up anyway. Especially since you will probably be asked what you want to drink in front of them.
You may have to fess...
KWIM?
especially since you pooped last week and they were speculating.

Re: What's a good "fake out" drink?
I love cranberry with kettle one, that is normally my drink so if I were in your shoes I would ask for a glass of cranberry with ice, with a lime on the glass and drink it with a straw. Or if you want, you can do a tropical drink as some of the other posters suggested.

My favorite regular beer is newcastle so I like the more "stinky" beers. Never was a pilsner gal I do like Blue Moon though. I wish they made n/a wheat bee

thanks for discussing nonalcoholic beers.... I did some research, and my local beverage center has clausthaler
mmmm, a nice german beer (either pilsner, or amber... I hope they have the amber in stock!)... guilt-free!

ooh i would LOVE an n/a wheat beer. i tend to drink the lighter beers - i like newcastle, but i am happier with a blue moon or a hoegaarden.
when your babies come you HAVE to try this beer made by anheuser-busch called sun dog - it is SO good. shock top (a-b also) is fantastic too!
ooh now i am thirsty

Ahhh - I thought the same thing, so I have an overthought "plan."
We aren't actually at a club or a "regular" bar - we're at a bowling alley that happens to have a nicely stocked bar My plan is for us to get there early and just get our 2 drinks. Later on, we'll buy the 1st round for everyone & I'll go down to the bar to order it. Then I'll nurse it, miss the next round & just go down to order myself one more...which will be my last. How prepared am I? After tonight there are only 2 nights left to the season before the summer break, so I just need to get by for a few more nights
ETA: On some occasions I've gotten a mixed drink that someone else has also ordered, so I don't think it will be too toooo weird for me to get something different. It's few & far between, but I'm hoping that it's often enough so that I won't raise suspicion

Thanks so much ladies! I think that I'll probably do a cranberry and seltzer (now that I know what to mix it with!).
