How many bottles do you register for??

We are probably going to register next week and I will be asking lots of questions before then! Chat Icon How many bottles do you register for? Do you need 8? 10? More? Less? Can you register for more than one brand?

SO many people have said that the ones they register for aren't the ones the baby takes to and you have to try a lot out....

Re: How many bottles do you register for??

I registered for a kit (it came with 2 smaller bottles) and 3 extra bottles. It was a good amount to last me through the day, but I just bought a couple more because I felt like all I was doing was washing bottles.

I bought the born free.

I guess it depends on if you are going to BF or FF. I got a set of Dr. Brown's and a Playtex drop ins starter set. BRU gave me a free advent. I'll take it from there.

Re: How many bottles do you register for??

This is my second baby, so I can tell you what worked for me, and what I will be doing again.

I exclusively formula fed DD and will do the same this time.

The bottles that I love are the Playtex Ventaire. They are great, reduce gas and claim to be "like the breast" to a baby. I know a ton of family and friends that used them also.

I suggest registering for 12 bottles to start. Don't waste your time on the smaller ones, just get the 9 oz ones, because baby will be drinking over 6 oz before you know it, and then the smaller ones will be useless.

Also, get 3 of the powder formula holders, if you are using powdered. If you fill them ahead of time, you will have enough ready for 12 bottles.

Also, I boil the bottle water ahead of time and put into 2 big pitchers, then I keep 12 bottles filled with water and ready to go.

I found that being prepared, you don't have to keep a hungry baby waiting.

I just read the above posts, I tried Dr. Brown's, and didn't like having to take apart all of the pieces to wash them. I also tried Advent with stage 1 and 2 nipples, and I found them to leak a lot.
Good Luck!

Re: How many bottles do you register for??

It depends on whether or not you will BF or formula feed. DD is almost 5 months and she is BF. At home I have two bottles, and at my mom's and my MIL's I have one bottle each (all Playtex drop-ins). When I registered at BRU I got a free Avent . . . DD would not take it. I registered for one 3 pack of bottles that I did not get but purchased myself that DD didn't like either.

My recommendation is to register for no more than 3 bottles of any one brand and see which ones your DC likes.

I am going to BF in the beginning but start pumping early on. I registered for a few different sizes of Avent bottles and the Dr. Browns gift set. I don't know if I am going to exchange them now with the whole BPA issue.

Thanks for asking this question. I went to add them to the registry yesterday and I didn't know how many to register for.
