Is 9:30 on a saturday too early to call someone?

My cousin has 2 daughters - One just turned 8 and one is almost 5... Plus, a dog and a new puppy.... We talked last week about getting together so I can give the girls their birthday presnets and she had something for Cailen's birthday. We made tentative plans for today...

Since later today we have a seder and we were trying to plan our day, I figured I'd give her a call to see if today would work or if she thinks tomorrow would be better.

so I call, and her husband answers. He sounds awful - and a little p issed... I say hi, and tell him who it is. He still sounds p issed. I said, "Wow, you sound a little blah - is everything ok?" He tells me he is out of it.

My 1st thought was maybe he was smoking the ganj because I know he likes to toke up, and I'm thinking wow, thats a bit early, but to each their own.

I ask him if my cousin is home, and he says, "She is SLEEPING!"

I swear, in a million years, it never would have dawned on me that they would get to sleep that late on a saturday with 2 young active girls and 2 dogs. I said, "wow - everyone sleeps that late???"

I was shocked - by 9:30, I have already been up, home from kickboxing class, showered, ate breakfast, and was doing dishes....

He says, "Yeah - its SATURDAY!"

I say ok, just let her know I called, and he hangs the phone up on me...

I hate when people call me early (yes 9am is early to me) any day of the week but ESPECIALLY on the weekend.

Unless it's urgent, I wouldn't call anyone before 10:30 -11am.

9am in my house is like lunchtime in many other houses! I'd much prefer to be sleeping in at 9am, but I'm well into my day by then.

I think its early. I sleep in whenever possible, and I have an almost 2 year old. I'm not a fan of calls before 10am.

Given the situation, kids, dogs, etc, I don't htink 9:30 is too early.

I wouldn't call my single friend Mariesa at 9:30 on a Saturday

I have a husband who works nights and even with a 3 year old we are definitely not fans of people calling the house before 10 on the weekends.

We're late sleepers here too! My kids don't get up until almost 9 or even later on the weekends if I don't have to get my DS up for school. But 9:30 isnt too early if you ask me.

We are, in general, up early. Occassionally we get to sleep in...I prefer no phone calls until about 10am on the weekends..unless its something important or along the lines of "let's go to the beach...."

Even with a 5 month old, I think 9:30 AM is early. He usually gets up at 7:30 has a bottle and goes back to sleep until 9:30-10 AM. Ok, so call me lucky
But we have a rule, dont call before 11 AM or after 9PM in our house unless of course it is an emergency.

Too early.

Leo works night, Sat and Sun are the only mornings when I can really let him sleep uninterrupted.

Even though Josh and I are out...I rush out quietly those mornings...

7 AM we were already on a bike ride to the store..stopped at the park.

We leave the apt asap, but leave the phone on in case of an emergency.

A 9:30 call would have def woken up Leo.

Since the baby, we are out of bed, and dressing by 930. I think it's fine to call someone then.

Early here for us too.

My dh works nights (when hes not laid off that is) and needs to sleep in in the mornings.

Megan goes down later than most babies but she sleeps until 10 almost every day. Anything before 11 in this house is too early but thats totally an individual thing!

Too early here for us too. Sometimes DD can be up at 5 am and then fall back to sleep on the weekends and I take full advantage of it.

But I will say if I were making plans for a gathering that same day, I might call a little eariler than I normally would. But never earlier than 10AM regardless.

And once you wake me up from sleeping, my crankiness would let you know not to do that again

unless it's really important, anytime before 11am is too early!

Some mornings we are up, and have been for a while, so if I want to get it I will.

BUT, others mornings I might be just getting up because she didn't go to sleep until late morning

I try to be mindful of who I am calling. If they have little kids, odds are that they are awake by then. As for us, DH doesn't sleep that late but I am usually sleeping at 9:30 on the weekends. That will change soon.

Wow, 9:30. Steven's about ready for a nap by then. So, NO, it's not early IMO. However, I have a general rule of not calling people before 10 am and after 10 pm.

I was a late sleeper up until my son was born. But someone calling me at 9:30 am never bothered me before, even before I had Matthew.
