I'm obsessed with going in to labor, so tell me...
What where some of the signs in the days/hours before you went into labor that you had. I know that according to the text books there is the bloody show and all that wonderful stuff, but I would love to know about the stuff that they leave out, lol! I have heard that some people have the "runs" a day or two before, and some women nest like crazy. Any thoughts/experiences? TIA!

Re: I'm obsessed with going in to labor, so tell me...
IMO, everyone's experience is different. When I had DS, I never lost my mucus plug, and the night before I went into labor, I was complaining how I felt like there was no end in sight of the pregnancy... I was a lil over 38 weeks when he was born. The morning of my body felt different... I don't know why or what, but I wasn't feeling normal, and felt like something was going on. By 12:30, my water broke... oh, and it wasn't a huge gush like you see in the movies. It actually came out like a quick 2nd pee (sorry TMI ).
Anyway, lucky for me, the experience wasn't long, but like I said, everyone is different, and some people do through everything in the books we read, and some go through nothing. I know the anticipation is killer, but in the end, everything will work out BEAUTIFULLY, and you won't even care how you got there, just how in love you are with this new person in your life.

Re: I'm obsessed with going in to labor, so tell me...
I had a sudden burst of energy two days before labor...I put together my DS's bassinet, and organized his entire room. I was even on a ladder, hanging crystals on my bathroom chandelier (I was nuts).
Then, I was in labor, but didn't know it. I thought it was gastrointestinal cramping, because yes, I was one of those women who did get "the runs".
I finally realized it was labor when the pain was like clockwork and the cramping got really intense (I was around 3 min. apart when I admitted to myself that this really was labor).
I think I was in denial because my water never broke...but then around 2-3 min. apart I started bleeding, and new it was time to call the MD and get myself down to the hospital.

I had no signs at all- I was at the doctor for my last visit and she couldn't find the heartbeat I got sent to the hospital to be checked and the incident got me so upset that my doctor decided to induce me. Before they could give me the pictocin, they hooked me up to monitors. It turned out I had been in labor all along. I had no idea.

I had absolutely no signs...I was 5 days late and didn't think he was ever coming out-I woke up in the middle of the night with contractions and knew it was time...I was searching and searching for signs but got none!!!

Re: I'm obsessed with going in to labor, so tell me...
With DS, I started getting very uncomfortable cramps on and off maybe 3 days before I had him. I also lost my appetite and could not stop going to the bathroom When I went to the hospital I thought I wasn't in labor because another woma was wheeled in crying in agony while I walked in! But sure enough It was labor. No loss of mucous plug or water breaking. Everyone is different.

I was sooooo sick the day before. I couldnt get out of bed or eat and slept all day. I also was vomiting, though it was the flu or something. Then at 4am my water broke and I went into labor.

Only at the very end when they turned off my epi because I wasn't pushing correctly. That hurt like you wouldn't believe! But I had no real labor pain- they hooked me up, saw the contractions, issued the pictocin and gave me an epi all in a row. It was pretty crazy.

Re: I'm obsessed with going in to labor, so tell me...
I was 11 days late with my first. I went to the doctor and he stripped my membranes. Basically ripped at my cervix and I started to bleed a little. Within the next 2 days I slowly lost my mucous plug. I painted the bathroom door and reorganzied the linen closet because I didn't like the way the towels were folded.. The 3rd day, I woke up, walked to the bathroom and GUSH...my water broke in the toilet. I went to the hospital around 9:30-10:00am after I showered, did my hair and make-up. I gave birth (c-section) at 7:30pm.
I had an epidural and a spinal and a horrible first night sleep with those damn things they put on your legs to massage your muscles. My wonderful roommate didn't help much either...leaving on the light in the bathroom and talking on the phone at 3am.
Hopefully I have a better experience this time.
