100% wool rug for nursery?
I want to order this rug from land of nod but, I think I remember reading something not good about 100% wool rug in nursery? I can't remember what though? If its not good, any suggestions where else to look? It seems both pbk and lon have mostly wool rugs. I am looking for a large rug - 8x10 and am having a hard time finding this size.
TIA

Re: 100% wool rug for nursery?
This was the only thing i saw when i googled wool rugs that would cause a problem in nursery:
"after the wool has been hooked or knotted, it's shaved or trimmed so that the pile will be all one uniform length. as a result, some of the yarn unravels & dislodges from the weave. it's like when you get a haircut - most of your hair ends up on the floor, but some stays stuck in your hair & comes off on your clothes, comb, or in the shower. Just vaccuum it regularly to get up as much of that excess wool as you can."

That is so nice of you to google it! I didn't even think of that
That sounds kind of annoying huh?

Re: 100% wool rug for nursery?
I dont know if its every wool rug, but I had a wool rug from pottery barn, had it for over a year, I vaccumed every other day, and it filled the vaccum canister with fuzz every time. It just kept shedding. The wool would ball up and there would be little wool tumble weeds everywhere. Could be a choking hazard

Very true - but I was just thinking maybe then it will end up all over him every time he crawls on the floor like dog or cat hair?

Yeah.. plus you dont want that to get in his eyes.. that could be very irritating and possbily scratch his cornia.. If i was you i would just find another kind of rug.

Re: 100% wool rug for nursery?
My dad has been in the carpet and rug business his entire life. Do you want me to ask him? Honestly, I am fairly certain that most high quality rugs are 100% wool, unless they are silk. I'll verify that.

Re: 100% wool rug for nursery?
I have a PB wool rug in my sons room and it sheds like crazy. Annoying shedding, if they were small babies, I probably wouldn't let them play on it. And my older son complains about it being itchy. I don't think I'd buy another wool rug - I prefer the acrylic Target one in my DD's room honestly.
