Time Warner Cable DVR customers
How many hours does your DVR hold? I estimate mine at about 40 and since we had this box for 3 years I am wondering if there is an upgrade with more hours....
I figured I would ask here before I call that forsaken company!

40 sounds about right, but I have no idea if there's an upgrade. Good luck if you call them, though. I HATE dealing with them.

Yeah I would rather never call them at all ever! My coworker lives in Westchester (not sure what cable provider) and he has 100 hours of DVR!

keep in mind if you record HD shows, they take up more space as its a bigger file

Re: Time Warner Cable DVR customers
We have DishNetwork, and our newest box holds 350 hours of standard TV, plus we can plug any USB drive into it, so we have infinite storage if we really want.....

Re: Time Warner Cable DVR customers
Our HD dvr box holds practically nothing -- maybe 12 hours of HD shows at best.
Our non-HD dvr box holds much more, probably around 30 hours.
My parents' non-HD dvr box from Cablevision holds more than I can even imagaine!

my box is screwed up! it sometimes stops to record in the middle of the show... I called customer service and she is like: "record something for me and then see if it is recorded" jeez, thanks lady! can I request another box do you think?

As for a new box - yes, you can get a new one. We had to do this - but it was a PainInTheA$$ because everything we had saved to watch sometime later - was lost. DH was able to put some on a VCR tape, but it was annoying and totally loses the convienence.
I asked if there was a way they (Cablevision) could put what I had saved onto the new box, but they were "working on that, but didn't have the ability" at the time.
