Re: 16 with 7 kids!?!

As someone who is dealing with infertility, this makes me sad. I know a 16 yr old is way more fertile than a 37 yr old, but it doesn't stop me from feeling sad.

Re: 16 with 7 kids!?!

I am one who believes that all children are blessings as a rule, but when a 16 year old is faced with this and the government has to intervene, it is less of a blessing and IMO, more of a burden on the community.

Perhaps education and birth control would save the government a little bit of money and this "child" having children could have had more opportunities to be a responsible adult. Im old school - what can I say?

I agree any child is a blessing. I am sad when young children are forced to become adults so fast but I think since the government intervened it is their fault. She saw that her actions didn't have any consequences since someone else would take care of everything for her.

People I know that live outside of the US got pregnant on purpose at the age of 16 so the gov't would give them a free house, a monthly allowance and free milk. The first girl did it then her friend did it and so on. They each saw what their friend had and wanted it too. Then she realized the more kids she had the more money she was given so she had more. This is the result of too many handouts at the tax payers expense.

They do that INSIDE the US too - trust me. Maybe they dont get a house, but they do get subsidized on some level or another.

OMG! That is insane!

Where are her parents throughout all of this? Someone needs to teach her about BC and more importantly, that she doesn't need to sleep around to be loved.

Seems to me there are a number of problems with this KID.

Sad, very sad.

ITA!! They should give her free birth control and sex ed. instead of free housing, etc to keep taking care of more and more babies (although- now that they're here SOMEONE needs to take care of them). It’s a shame. Although- 7 kids at 16?!!? That’s crazy.

Oh yeah I know that but I think when you are 16 or any age for that matter and see you can have your own house, not work and be given money hand over fist it is a bit more appealing. My cousin has four kids she lived with her boyfriend and father of the kids for 10 years but didn't want to marry him. When she married him all of her little perks of being a single parent eneded. Eventually they got married 2 weeks after her wedding at the age of 35 she went to work at her very FIRST job.Chat Icon

Oh I understand what they're doing. My question was meant to be read more along the lines of "they're not doing their job".

Helping out their daughter financially is all well and good, but they're not teaching her to respect herself. To me, they're not being good parents and that (IMO) puts them more at fault than the government.

How does she have time to be promiscuous with 7 kids?

Someone needs to teach that girl about bc.
