unorganised vs. disorganised
Which is a word? I was told at work that unorganised isn't a word, but rather disorganised is the correct word. I use unorganised often, but disorganised sounds OK too.

Re: unorganised vs. disorganised
i thought they were both words.
Unorganized - Lacking order, unity, or a system; disorganized.
disorganized -functioning without adequate order, systemization, or planning; uncoordinated: a woefully disorganized enterprise.

Should one say unorganized or disorganized? Printer Friendly Version
The answer is 'it depends'. Here are the relevant definitions from the New Oxford Dictionary of English (1998):
disorganized not properly planned and controlled; (of a person) unable to plan one's activities efficiently.
unorganized not organized.
Disorganized is strong and disapproving; unorganized is mild and may be neutral. Compare:
Her desk and papers seemed unorganized (but she could find anything she needed in a moment).
Her desk and papers were disorganized (and she could never lay her hands on what she needed).

To me...
UNorganized would indicate NO organization
while
DISorganized would mean POOR organization
but that is just me.
