Craigslist Response - Do you think this is shady?
I'm selling an expensive item on Craigslist and this is a response I got from one of the people that were interested...
Hello ,
Thanks for your prompt reply, Yes am okay with the condition of the item and the price, in fact i believe my wife will be okay with that,i will really appreciate if you can offer me the item because am really pleased with it, i will like to tell you that my mode of payment will be by check because that is the only convenient means for me, all because i will be out of state to china to inspect my factory. So i will be very happy if you can offer me the item, kindly get back to me with your full name, Address, cell # Land Line #, like wise i will like to tell you i will issue your payment altogether with the shipper fund in which you will help me and send the excess fund to the shipper for the pick up of the item seems i will not be around, and i will instruct my shipper to deliver to my new apartments.So will look to your reply as soon as possible so that i can issue out the payment to you immediately before i live and probable maybe i can try and check it up before i live.

He didnt ask for detailed pics or anything like that...I mean I can cash the check first and then send it to him...

IMO I wouldn't do it. Sounds like they are going to take your item and run

He gives you a check for $10,000 - you take your payment, and then give the remainder to another person.

Craigslist - you should ONLY accept paypal or certified money order/bank checks, or cash (in person.)

I understand he would need your name and address so he could send the check to you. But I can't figure out why he would need your phone #s.
Ask him to send the check for X amount. If it's legit, then you send the item.
p.s. If you can, have the check sent to you or DH at work so he doesn't have your home address.

Exactly. My cousin fell for it. When he went to cash the check, he was detained and taken in by police at his own bank! He was then investigated by police and it took him a while to clear his name.

Yeah no Chris don't worry I'm not going to do it...I've sold things before and the buyer actually came to my house to pick it up and gave me cash...thats the only way I would do it.

DONT DO IT ! These long run-on-sentence responses that sound so busy and know what theyre doing. ARE SCAMS. 
Im surprised its not written with poor grammar, that's another thing to look out for.

Not at all...I don't deal with that kind of stuff...we do wire transfers on all of our transactions anyway.

Not at all...I don't deal with that kind of stuff...we do wire transfers on all of our transactions anyway.
They're totally supposed to do it...especially b/c you deal with Wire Transfers! I'm calling your Compliance dept...
