Re: Visions of your Wedding

I wanted to elope, DH would not have that. He felt I would some day regret not having "the" day. With that said, I loved my wedding and would not have changed a thing that we did have. I had it at a gorgeous place, I loved my dress, my hair, my tiara, my flowers, the food, my cake, the band, etc.
We spent so much money but once we decided to go "big", there was no turning back. We invited over 350 people, ended up with 280. There was not one person at my wedding that I had to be "introduced" to, other than an occasional significant other of a friend that I had yet to meet. There were no random "and guest" because that is what we wanted Chat Icon
DH and I made every single decision TOGETHER because that is what marriage is about.
While it was never the type of wedding I grew up dreaming about, I would not change a thing Chat Icon

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I had a vision and it was kind of close to what I had in mind...however for the next one, what I want and what I *think* will happen are two very differnet things.

Ideally, I'd like it quick and painless 2nd time around.

I agree with you TOTALLY!
I loved the planning and still think it went great, but there are A LOT of things I would have changed. Looking back, I HATED my makeup and my hair was not 100% what I wish it was. Looking at so many other people's picttures, they look so magical and princess-like on their wedding day. I don't think I had that Chat Icon

I totally 100% agree ...I didn't "know" enough to plan it the way I would have today.

My wedding pretty much lived up to the visions I've had....and even exceeded them.....Only I was alot skinnier in my visions.....

Re: Visions of your Wedding

i didn't have a vision - just knew that i wanted champagne colored bridesmaids dresses ahead of time after seeing them at another wedding years and years ago w/my family.

i was also the first of my friends to get married so I didn't really have much to bounce off of, except LIW but I didn't learn about that site until most of the planning was done.

would i have done a few things differently? Yeah, probably. But I don't have regrets.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I had every THING I wanted, just not every PERSON.

We had a fancy black-tie Saturday night temple wedding with the works - what my "vision" was. But I would have traded it in for a weenie roast with DH in overalls and me in Daisy Dukes if my father could have been there. I am grateful that he was able to provide us with our special day even if he was not there in body.

Once I got engaged I did a lot of research and figured out everything I wanted, how it would flow together, etc.

I know I have mentioned this 9999 times but the only thing I regret is the florist I hired, other than that everything was perfect. But then again, I am a huge planner.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

Nope... it all sorta came together. I started to think more about it as I got closer to being engaged-- but I did not have it all planned out. I just wanted it to reflect our personalities, while still being traditional-- and we achieved that.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

For most of my life I had a very specific vision of my dress. I was lucky to find that dress but I had to decide between that dress and something more modern. I was torn but I went with my vision. I wish I could have worn both dresses. The one that was my second choice was very up to date but I was afraid that it was not how I had always envisioned myself. I guess I could have asked this on LIW--what would you have done?

Re: Visions of your Wedding

i could not let myself have a "vision" of my wedding bc of all the severe anxiety that destroyed my life during the planning

i could only think of each detail, perfect it and move on - if i thought of the entire thing put together i would have been hiding under the covers never to be seen again

and bc of that i let everything go on that day and i allowed myself to have the most amazing day ever

i think that was only bc i didnt have a "vision" the day had to live up to - i just enjoyed every moment

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I did not have any vision, except that I wanted my bridesmaids to have red dresses and white flowers, and me to have a white dress and red flowers since I saw that on A Wedding Story years and years agoChat Icon

I did have my girls in red, my MOH in navy and we all had fall flower bouquets..

The only thing I really REALLY regret, is not having a videoChat Icon There were some very special people to me who have passed away since my wedding...

I loved every single minute of that dayChat Icon

Re: Visions of your Wedding

Nope, never had a vision and thought I'd never get married. I think that once we found our reception location (the Bourne Mansion), the feel and the overall decor of it gave me the closest thing I could have to a "vision" for my wedding day.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

Nope, never thought about getting married at all until I met DH.

I wanted to elope on the beach in Mexico but DH wanted the wedding because he said that I would regret not having a wedding and he would be blamed in the end. Chat Icon

I absolutely loved our wedding & would not have made any different vendor choices. DH was super involved in the planning and attended almost every appointment (including the 30+ halls that we saw). It was wonderful and I'd do it again, with someone else's money Chat Icon

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I just wanted a big poofy dress and I got it.

I would however change a few things. My photographer--I would get the pictures I wanted.
The weather--NOT HAVE A HURRICANE
I would have made the wedding longer so I could enjoy it more and remember more if it.

I still loved my wedding day though. And I loved my wedding day more when the next day when it was beautiful out, the people who got married couldn't get married outside either bc of the hurricane lol. Selfish I know

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I wouldn't change anything from my wedding. It was perfect in my eyes. I can't wait for my video so I can relive it.

I had amazing photographers (something in blue), I loved my hair and makeup, I thought everything was great.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

Once I got engaged, I had a vision: garden-esque with bright pinks and greens. My boquet wasn't exactly what I expected, but I loved it. My ceremony flowers were completely different, and you can hear on my video me saying "these aren't my flowers" as I'm walking down the aisle! Chat Icon Chat Icon But having it at Jericho Terrace and getting married under the sky (room had a skylight and lots of garden detail), it was perfect.

I just wish my cousin was there. I came to her wedding 8 hours away, and she couldn't be bothered to drive 3.5 hours to mine. She never gave me an explanation why. Chat Icon

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I used to have visions of my wedding. And I gotta say it was not much different from what I imagined and wanted. I think I did have the wedding of my dreams. (but i also didn't get my proofs yet!!! LOL)

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I didn't have a vision and we mostly planned our wedding on our own.
DH probably had more of a vision than I did because he worked in the catering business for years.
But, I loved our wedding as a whole and don't regret anything about it.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I had a vision of my wedding, I just didn't have a vision of what I would look like at my wedding.

I knew where I wanted it, what the centerpieces should look like, what food I wanted, the invitations, the music, etc.

BUT I was so caught up in the detail that I didn't think about myself. I didn't spend enough time thinking about my hair, makeup or dress.

To this day, people still compliment me on my wedding - they had such an amazing time. But I understand how you feel when you say that you look back at the pics of yourself and you wish you could change it.

I still look a wedding gowns online sometimes and wonder what I would have looked like in them Chat Icon BUT regardless, I had an amazing day.
