spinoff to hug post--are you a kisser?
I'm not, but since my DH has a big Italian family, I've gotten used to it. But I still don't kiss. I lean in and let them kiss me and I just make a kissy sound with my mouth usually. I don't know. I just never grew up kissing. How about all of you?

a little weird but after having a son, I understand where it comes from... I ALWAYS want to kiss my son on the mouth. He's my baby

i'm not a kisser... even when people do the cheek thing--- my FIL is from Italy, he still only gets the "air kiss" i let the cheeks touch, but i don't do more than that.
i came from a family with 2 Irish parents who are not very lovey-dovey...the Irish aren't the kissy type! and so i guess that's what i'm used to. i would much rather give a hug.

Not at all. My family wasn't very physically affectionate, and I still find it awkward every now and then with my friends... I'm a hugger if anything at all.

Sometimes. I always hated being forced to kiss people as a child and I refuse to force my children to kiss anyone. I never had to ask for affection from nieces and nephews - they do it automatically because they actually like me. Go figure.

i'm the same exact way.
i think i can count on ONE hand the number of times my parents and i have kissed each other - hmm - my wedding day and umm yeah that's about it LOL. we are irish lol and COLD hahaha.
but, honestly, considering i came from parents who really didn't show a whole lot of physical emotion i am pretty affectionate - i mean, considering. with DH meaning - and i know i'll be that way with my kids b/c i'm very affectionate to our doggy and my nephew

This is me. I kiss my kids and my husband - but I don't love kissing other folks. My in laws and several of my friends are also very big on kisses hello and goodbye - so I have acclimated and I will often give people those air kisses when greeting them or saying goodbye.

I kiss DW, DS and DD all the time (several times a day, every day), but that's it. I'm very affectionate towards people I love a lot, but very non-physical towards others. I don't really hug ILs, and when other people kiss my cheek, I let them, but I don't make an "air kiss", I just touch their cheek.

I've posted about this before, but I had a HUGE culture shift to do when I moved to LI.
I had never had anyone outside of my grandma kiss and hug me hello and goodbye until I moved to this area.
Then suddenly strangers thought they could get to second base with me.
It was so odd to have people I just met kiss and hug me.
I'm used to it now, but sometimes when I go to visit my family I lean in for the kiss and my friends are like "Hey, woah!! Back that pucker up!!"

I am definitely a kisser.... I kiss my parents, brothers & friends hello and goodbye.. Hugging is so awkward to me.. I find that is more personal than a kiss...

I kiss my friends & family on the cheek everytime I see them. Always have, always will. It may be a culture thing since I am Italian, but It has always been the norm in my life.
