Re: Verizon Fios.. question?

Is it a brand new number or did you just switch phone companies?

Start off by enrolling your number in the National Do Not Call List
888-382-1222.
That should get rid of the majority of telemarketers. Charities are exempt from this list so if you are getting a lot of those, just ask them to take you off their list.

Re: Verizon Fios.. question?

we switched to Verizon Fios in December and we haven't had a problem. Maybe because we switched over an existing #?

Re: Verizon Fios.. question?

Did you just buy a house? We're still getting a ton of junk mail, offers, etc. from that. Not necessarily Verizon.

With Optimum, your phone number was unlisted by default. With Verizon, you have to pay extra during the order process to have it unlisted. I registered for the Do Not Call registry before we even had the install.

I still got one call from a tree service that the previous homeowners had used, two from charities - PBA and another I forgot, and someone else who always comes up "Private Name" that I never pick up.

If I do pick up the phone and start to hear a pitch, I ask for their name and company name. I tell them to hold while I write it down and then tell them I registered for the Do Not Call list months ago and to remove me from their files immediately, or I'm reporting them. And I hang up.

Re: Verizon Fios.. question?

we had our house for a year now... we have the same number so we just switched companies...

but maybe it is because we are listed now... we would of had to pay extra if we wanted our number unlisted... you think thats it???

thanks !

Re: Verizon Fios.. question?

I had to re-register my number with the do not call registry once we switched to Fios (the number didn't change) and that fixed it. I had the same problem with telemarketers when we first switched to Fios. Hope that helps.

Yup, that is definitely it. Its a new listing and that is probably why its happening. Non published service is an additional charge. Definitely re-register with do not call list, but sometimes it may take a few months to go into effect.

Re: Verizon Fios.. question?

This happened to us too... we went from unlisted with Optimum to listed with Verizon and suddenly had 7 trillion calls a night. I registered with the DO NOT CALL registry and the calls stopped pretty much within 24 hours!Chat Icon
