Why did I insist that we paint the basement?

We have a finished basement with a full bath - it's a great room but I couldnt help but gripe about the walls - the room looks like a sauna. It's just knotty wood everywhere. DH, my parents, my sister - pretty much everyone said "Dont paint it yet - it's a huge job and you have enough to do."

Did I listen? NOPE. I had to be at the house today to get estimates for the carpeting and the painting (having other rooms painted, but not the basement). DD fell asleep in the pack and play and I sprang into action - runinng down the basement to begin doing the primer.

Oh god - everyone was right - this is going to take FOREVER!!!!!!!

I worked like a maniac for 1.5 hours while DD slept and I think I got like 5 feet of wall space done. There are so many grooves and knots in the wood that just the priming alone will take probably a week.

I know it will look great when it's done but man - it's only day 1 and I HATE PAINTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rent or buy a spray gun. You use the same paint, but you spray it on instead of rolling it. You'll be done in a fraction of the time. I've used the sprayer to paint my stockade fence, and the interior of my shed. Takes about 5 minutes to do a 6'x8' section of fence.
