I know this is going to sound really harsh and I in no way mean to be so blunt, but you REALLY need to call the cops or the department of children's welfare ( I think that's what its called- I can find out for sure) on them. She will never know it came from you, but someone of power needs to help you. This child is in a very bad atmosphere and actually the mother can go to jail as well as this idiot. She doesn't seem as bright as you say, being that she is not taking care of this baby medically. If this child has cancer, then why the .... is she subjecting it to cigarette smoke? If I were you, I would call the police and ask them who to call to take care of this. She will never know it came from you and you will be at ease knowing that they will be OK.. These people sound like bottom of the barrel trash and should be ashamed to subject a child to this kind of surrounding.

ok- I have a friend in a similar situation...minus a child being involved.....Ive been trying to open her eyes for 6 yrs...

The one thing Ive realized is....shes not gonna leave on my advice alone...she has to WANT to leave for herself...As long as she wants to be around him ...no matter how many times I try and open her eyes...and she says "your right"...it dosent matter....shes gotta want it for herself!

Since there is a child involved...and the situation is very crummy... depending on its extent...maybe call CPS....if you care about the child and feel this sit. is dangerous for him/her than make that call..... Maybe moms eyes need to be opened..im sure she dosent wanna lose her child over this...

You said you don't live near her anymore so theres not much more you can do than call CPS. However, look at those kids you hear nightmares all the time with those kids. I think her mother better get WAYYYYYY more involved and get her grandaughter out of this situation

First of all, it does stay anonymous. Second of all, what's more important- the safety of a child or pissing off a creep! You should really start to listen to some of the advice we are all giving you. This isn't really an option anymore... You and everyone else that cares for this baby really HAVE to do something about this before a tragedy occurs!
