Hypothetical question
So the Giants are in the Superbowl. They are my Dad's team. My sister is due this week and is already progressing nicely (3 centimeters dilated and 90% effaced). My Dad is already laying the groundwork for if the baby comes Superbowl Sunday. (Oh the first day should be you and DH. You don't want all these people there the first day, yada yada yada.) Now when I had both of my children he was up there the first day for both of them. For Jaidy he even waited in the waiting room since it was a scheduled c-section. Now thankfully my sister is not upset at all and is laughing about it. Now if it was me I would be upset with my Dad. Especially being this is her first child.
So would it upset you if it were your Dad?

my dad no, but thast bc i am not super close but my dh yes.. as it is i am due during hockey playoff time . Although the way the rangers play they wont be playing by then anyway. but if they are i told him you better have someone to give your ticket away to.

Nah, as long as my DH is there, I don't care who else is. I don't see the big deal between being there that night and waiting til the next morning. I totally wouldn't want my dad seeing the delivery.  I don't have any kids, but I actually already told DH that if we do have kids, I don't really want to deal with guests the first day. I've visited my SIL and BIL's girlfriend the day they gave birth, and neither seemed comfortable or up to seeing guests...I'd rather be feeling better before I have to make conversation.

well---i would probably be a little upset if he made sure to be there for my other siblings and suddenly doesn't want to with me----and it would obviously be because of superbowl.
BUT -- is your sister close with your dad like you are? perhaps its bothering you more cause if he did it to you it would hurt more? or is your sister acting like its not bothering her, but it might really be and she doesn't want to say that?
maybe you should mention it to your dad and remind him he did it with his other grandkids and this should be no different.

hmmm.. i guess i would be hurt. But to be honest i think even tho your dad says this, he will be there the for your sister. Its his grandchild!! I think that will over come the superbowl.

I had my DD on SuperBowl Sunday 14 years ago....I was lucky the Doctor even stuck around!!!!! Me being me...I would understand. As long as they showed up the following day and made a big enough hoopla..

I would be a good sport about the teasing but not if he actually blew off seeing me that day.
If that happened, I might have to have the baby's family birthday party -EVERY YEAR on Super Bowl Sunday at a kid's location.
