Are you a small talk person?
I would have to say I am not.
I am not big on idle chit chat. mostly cuz I just don't care about the trivial details of day to day life...I think MINE are boring...why would I want to hear about yours...
unless of course it's yours, doll face...or yours over there  ...then of course, I love it and I'm interested.

Hate small talk....
For instance...
Walked into work, said hello/g.m. to everyone, and then asked my office mate "how was your weekend?" They went into detail about their weekend...down to the minute. They then asked me about mine...
My response "Uh, uh..." and walked to the bathroom.

We can't pass each other on the way to the bathroom without the other person trying to think of something to say.

Depends on who it's with. I hate small talk with people that I know don't really care and that I don't honestly care about, like my co-workers or strangers. But if I'm with friends and there's nothing really "big" to discuss then it's cool to just chat about the weather or whatever until a more interesting topic comes up.

Ugh, not at all! For this reason I hate mingling at parties SO much. I never know what to say.
DH gets invited to a ton of events. Last year I was happy to sit alone and look at the LI sound rather than chit chat with strangers.
It's bad I must look so antisocial at parties. I have tons to say to my friends, just get shy in crowds.

I feel bad when I don't ask people how they are or their wives, their kids, etc are...it's mainly because I don't think of it...i guess I'm a horrible person cause I don't care that much

Nah. I feel awkward in situations with people I don't know well. One of the reasons I don't like GTG's is that I am sure that people will find me crazy boring and wonder why they bothered reading any of my posts to begin with.
ETA: I do like to hear other people chit chat. Like when someone wants to tell me about the little details of their day I am all ears - sincerely. But I do have a tendency to let my mind wander... even if it is important conversation.

Yes, but only because I try to be very outgoing. I do always try to make others feel comfortable and that means starting and carrying a conversation sometimes.
