What do you think of the name Lucille?
We don't know what we are having so we're trying to come up with names for both. My grandmother with whom I was VERY close with was named Lucille. I had always said that I would name my first daughter Lucille, which obviously I didn't. But I do think that I want to name the next girl Lucille. My niece has Lucille as her middle name so I'm torn as to what to do.
I'm just looking for you guys to tell me what you honestly think of the name. I know it's an older name. I don't love the name but I don't hate it. I thought of going with the middle name as Lucille but I still feel like I want it as a first name. So what do you think?

Honestly, I don't like it. I think of Lucille Ball or Kenny Rogers "it's a fine time to leave me Lucille". But if it makes you happy

I am not a big fan of the name Lucille... however I do love the nickname Lucy. I think it is a nice way to honor your grandmother!

Re: What do you think of the name Lucille?
If the name has meaning for you - I would totally go for it and not care what others think. If we have a girl we are giving her my grandmothers name (Greek name) and though people may at it, we don't care. It's for my grandma and that's all that matters to us. I think it's a great name and I do love the name "Lucy" as well if you want to call her something less formal.

Love Lucy......always have. My Aunt's name is Lucille. we call her Lu-Lu though. Would you be naming the baby after someone you admire, or do you just like the name?

Re: What do you think of the name Lucille?
Thank you everyone for your honest feedback. If we went with it we would probably name her Lucille and call her Lucy. Like I said we're unsure because we don't love it and we don't hate it. With Kiera it was easy because we both loved the name.
I keep telling myself that yes it's an "older" name but there are a lot of popular names that are older names so maybe Lucille will be popular in a couple of years.

Re: What do you think of the name Lucille?
I know a Lucille and she's so great and pretty. I guess sometimes a person can make a name better.
As a word of advice, people will always have an opinion whether you ask for it or not. Not everyone will like whatever name you chose.
I told someone one of our boys names, without asking she offered up the fact that it's a HORRIBLE name. She told me don't do it because it's a terrible name. I was offened but I should have never told her in the first place.

This won't help you, but old fashioned names are really popular here, for instance, I know a lady from my babygroup and her kids are called Myrtle and Ernest. I think Ruby and Alfie were two of last years most popular names. Also, I know a girl named Dolly, it was an old fashioned name that has gone through generations of her family. I find that really touching!!!
