Is the Roomba worth it?

I've heard mixed reviews - is it any good? TIA

(I know this will probably get moved but hope to get some replies before then)

Re: Is the Roomba worth it?

we have one... it doesn't replace the regular vaccum... but its nice to run a couple times a week to help keep up with stuff. especially if you have pets ( we have a dog) it really helps to keep up with his hair and stuff.
we have the scheduler one and it runs twice a week while we're at work, and then i usualy use the regular vaccum once a week, too.... we have mostly hardwood with some area rugs and it really has no problems going from the rugs to the hardwood... and it does pick stuff up, its always really full after everytime it runs!

NO!! Especially if you've got dog hair!!

We used ours maybe two or three times and now it's in the yard sale pile in the basement.

OOooooookkkkkkk--- well our dog has short hair so it may work better than with a long-haired dog.

I have cleaning people once a week who vaccuum thoroughly - I thought maybe it could help with maintenance in between? There's a pet one supposedly....

Unless you have an older model I totally disagree. I have a dog and 2 cats and "Will" as we call the irobot is the perfect solution. I have the newer model which I know has alot of improvements from the older ones. We run him about twice a week and then either Sat or Sunday we vacuum. I definitely see a difference using Will. No hair balls stuck in a corner, no hair floating around the floor. I will say this though. You need to clean out the brushes every time the robot is used if you have pets.

Ours worked great with Brodie's hair on the wood floors.

I wasn't crazy about it on carpeting.

The one thing you need to know is that you have to be DILIGENT with cleaning it out each time.

If you aren't the dog hair gets into the motor and it becomes a huge issue.

Get some compressed air and get a spare filter set so you can change them quickly.
