Uh, Help Please!! Contractions... UPDATED

Ok... So, for a few days I've been feeling what I thought was the baby stretching to its fullest. Last night in the middle of a movie, I had the most intense one yet (took my breath away) and it suddenly hit me that I'm a moron, that's not the baby stretching, it's more likely a contraction.

Well, they haven't been with any regularity per se but they have been more frequent this morning and def intense compared the the previous few days (with the exception of last night's whammy). I know the rule of thumb is 6/hour before you call the doctor BUT is that when you're 35w or when you're term?

Also, if anyone has any experience with contractions and wishes to share, taht would be fantastic.

(This on top of my first roid that is the size of a large grape, which has me in tears from the pain and kept me up all night)

UPDATE: I left work early to come home and rest yesterday. I have had a few more here and there but nothing with any regularity and therefore nonproductive. My body does seem to be cleaning itself out though so I'm working from home today and plan on watching them. Thank you all for your concern - I'll keep you updated should anything more fruitful come of them!

It's very possible what you are feeling is Braxton Hicks which are contractions, just not regular and will not bring on labor. Also, if you can talk through them, they usually aren't a full blown contraction. I would call the OB.

Contractions feel like your whole inside is in a vice and you are being squeezed all around. They start small and build up to a peak and drop back down. It is the most painful muscle cramp you have ever experienced.

I'm not Chat Icon I literally had to stop what I was doing and just breath. What you've described in the 2nd paragraph is how they've been feeling. I think I'll count for the hour from the most recent and then give a call so they have the most info. I don't think the baby's popping out in the next few min so i have some time if they are for real.

Braxton Hicks do feel like what labor contractions will feel like so don't let that be the judge. Call your doctor and do what they say. Like a pp said, you can go on a fetal monitor and they can tell if you are having contractions.

It's so hard to describe labor contractions because they are like something you never felt before and different for everyone. Chat Icon
