Re: breastfeeding class...
I took a class at Winthrop. If I knew nothing about breastfeeding before going it might have been helpful, but since I did a lot of reading/research before I went, I didn't really learn anything new. I don't want to say it was a waste of time, because I am sure some people learned from it, but I could have passed.
I learned a lot from the lactation consultants and the nurses in the hospital after giving birth and then I had a real baby to practice with

Re: breastfeeding class...
I didn't take a specific class, but my birth instructor dedicated a good portion of one of the classes to BFing. I also read a couple of books. ("The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" by LLL is a good one.) There was an LC at the hospital who gave a class and also worked personally with me. She was very helpful. And the nurses at my hospital were also trained to assist. (I delivered at Good Sam.) I left feeling very comfortable BFing- but I was also there for 5 days because I had a c-section.
Another wonderful resource is the internet site kellymom.com . They have MANY helpful articles and also have a forum section where you can get questions answered.
