Have a 103 fever....

what should I be doing? I've been drinking water non-stop & sleeping. I feel fine except for a headache & chills.

DD is w/ my MIL.

Doesn't help that I don't have a dr. in Lindy (my old dr is in Bayside).

Are there any First Med type places out here?

Re: Have a 103 fever....

Until you can get to a Dr you can bring the fever down with Tylenol, advil etc….
Feel better and get to a Dr…

Re: Have a 103 fever....

I would stay hydrated, sleep it off and take a fever reducing med, like tylenol

Re: Have a 103 fever....

yeah def take something for your fever....you could try to sweat out your fever or take a cool shower.

Keep drinking plenty of fluids...I like gatorade when I have a fever...that way your replace all those electrolytes.

Feel better soon!

Re: Have a 103 fever....

I used to live in Lindenhurst...there is a first med type place on Sunrise by the town hall (I think it's called Doctor Care??) I'll try and find the # for you...

Lots of fluids and maybe a cool bath/shower? Feel better!

Aww Cindy!!

Your doing the right thing. Stay hydrated & get lots of rest. Although my last resort for anything is to take meds, I would take tylenol (and nothing BUT Tylenol ) to reduce your fever. You should really eat some chicken soup. Feel better Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Have a 103 fever....

Get as much sleep as you can and stay hydrated.

If you are feeling really bad, take some tylenol, otherwise I wouldn't take anything to reduce your fever. A fever is your body's way of fighting off an infection, so if you lower the temperature, you're body won't be able to fight it. If it gets any higher though,or lasts more than a day or two, you should go see a dr. ASAP.

I hope you feel better soon!

Sorry to make this parenting related, but .....

Are you nursing? (Not now because your boobs aren't big enough to stretch from your house to your MIL's but in general, I mean) I ask because it could be a breast infection.

I've only had a fever that high once as an adult. I don't believe adults are supposed to have high fevers like that - only children. I kept the blankets on & drank plenty of fluids. I went back & forth with high fevers for 3 days. I would call a doctor or head to a clinic just as a precaution.

Hope you feel better soon!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Have a 103 fever....

Thanks ladies, I slept most of the day & have been taking Tylenol & drinking water. I think my fever broke...it was 99 a little while ago. Thanks for all the hugs/well wishes.

Barb--that was what I initially thought as well, but DH was sick yesterday w/ a fever, sore throat & its been going around my class too.

Now I have to get my googly moogly & celebrate her 6 month birthday!

Cindy if you want I can ask DH the name of the doctor that he just went to in Lindy. He was very happy with him. I think he is on Wellwood.

Yea that would be great BJ...I'm contemplating taking off again tomorrow...the fever is on/off. But if I stay home I'll defnitely have to go to the dr.
