Slight incontinence/discharge vs. leaking

I know such a lovely topic, but I'm a little paranoid b/c recently I heard of someone who was in their 20 something week and thought she had a little incontinence/discharge down there and turned out... she was leaking amniotic fluid and her water broke. I'm not sure of the outcome, but it resulted in a very dangerous pre-term birth.

I know this may sound dumb, but how does amniotic fluid differ from the other 2? I had a big sneeze earlier and something came out - I think I peed myself a little but isn't 21 weeks a little early for urinary incontinence? Plus I do the kegals (I'd be surprised if that really works anyway). DH says I just probably worry too much about the baby.

I had a small leaking urine thing going on at fewer than 20wks- don't remember when, but it was before my level2- I was scared because I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid. I never had watery discharge, so I can't tell you how to differentiate between fluid & that, but urine smells like...well, urine & amniotic fluid doesn't have a smell or smells a little sweet. This is a little gross, but I was told to wear a pad & basically sniff it (TMI, I know), also fluid doesn't have a yellow tinge like urine. I would also call the dr in the morning- (s)he may want to check to make sure you aren't dialated at all & that your fluid hasn't lessened.

Thank you both for the info. It hasn't happened again since that big sneeze. Even though this is my first pregnancy, DH and I think it was a little urine based on the fact I sneezed and nothing else happened and it hasn't happened since. I had no other issues since (thankfully), but my bladder is constantly full so I guess it really shouldn't surprise me. I just thought urinary incontinence was more associated with the last trimester.
