My sad, sad Christmas story...

Early in December I told my doctor that the only thing I was craving was a glass of wine and he, saintly man that he is, said go right ahead - you have my blessing! But just keep it to one glass.

Chat Icon Chat Icon

Since that time I've turned down several glasses of champagne and wine all because I wanted to enjoy my one glass of wine on Christmas with my Christmas dinner.

The day finally comes, I break out the good crystal, DH pours me a glass and we sit down to dinner. We toast to Christmas, I raise my glass and take a sip.....

....and I didn't like it. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I've been sooooooo good for 36 long weeks (okay, 31 if you consider I didn't know I was preggo until I was 5 weeks) and my reward is that I've lost my taste for wine.

This is the height of cruelty. Chat Icon

Once again...bad mommy over here..
I've had at least two glasses that I can think of in these 33 weeks, and a few sips here and there.

Please don't call DCW on me.Chat Icon

Oh, my doc just meant one at a time. I'm totally going for the champagne on NYE. If I've lost my taste for that as well Chat Icon is grounded until she's 5. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: My sad, sad Christmas story...

That is so sad! I had a similar story. On christmas eve I had 1/4 glass of wine. Took a couple of sips and got the worst heartburn ever!!!! I was very upset so I totally understand how you feel. Chat Icon

It's just so wrong. Well, your taste for wine should be back to normal in less than month! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: My sad, sad Christmas story...

That IS sad!!

I unfortunately had the opposite problem. I had a couple pf sips of DH's wine and I was salivating all night for more.

I ended up sniffing the wine bottle at least a dozen times and DH's family was looking at me like I should be on the next episode of Intervention!

Re: My sad, sad Christmas story...

Does it count when you put a drop that was left over from an empty bottle in your mouth and then spit it out...I was so craving and everyone told me to have a glass or a spritzer but I didn't, probably would feel so guilty I can't wait though Chat Icon Sorry you lost your taste but bet you can't wait until you can get a good buzz again. Re: My sad, sad Christmas story...

Oh man, what a let down after such anticipation and good behavior. I'm sure it will come right back after Chat Icon arrives. Maybe you should have that scotch after all. Chat Icon

I have allowed myself a glass or 1/2 glass of red wine once every couple of weeks, and I noticed that it isn't the same for me either. Maybe it's mental? And I swear, the heartburn starts before you even swallow the first sip...you taste it on your tongue and instantly feel like someone has tossed a match down your throat. Chat Icon

Please... Christmas night, when everything was cleaned up, I was telling my DH how nice next year will be. Having the little one, putting her to bed, sitting by the fire place and kicking back with a bottle of wine! Or a mojito, or a margariitta
