So, on Christmas Eve

I felt like Buddha! We announced to DH's extended family about our exciting Beanie on the way and everyone rubbed my tummy at least 3 times each.

Anyone else experiencing this rude concept of belly rubbing?

Can one offer insight as to how we may ask nicely for it end?

Yeah, just wait!

I don't mind my family and close friends touching my belly. Most have asked if they can, which I thought was really nice. I just don't like strange people touching me!

This is my biggest pet peeve.... Although I must say - I am lucky - my employees ask permission first....

Re: So, on Christmas Eve

From what I've seen, it will end after you give birth. Even people who swore they would never rub my belly couldn't help themselves after I popped, but it doesn't bother me.

If you really want it to end, you can pat the offender's belly too. It definitely gets your point across!

Re: So, on Christmas Eve

In the beginning no one really touched me. Now that I'm at the end of the pregnancy people touch my stomach all the time. I don't mind as much now as before.

My SIL will not leave me alone. The other night we babysat for her and she comes to pick up my niece and says "let me feel your stomach." So i said "i don't have a stomach yet. When i do, you can feel it. But i have nothing so far." So she goes "yes you do. Let me feel it" and starts coming at me with her hand!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I told her that i wasn't opposed to slapping her hand away! Chat Icon Chat Icon I also told her again that i don't have a stomach and if she thinks that i do, well that's bloating and gas for you! Chat Icon

I am only 3 months pregnant! I don't have a stomach! Can you save the belly rubbing until i'm like 7 months?!?!?!? Or just don't do it at all!!!

Re: So, on Christmas Eve

As soon as people go to put their hand on me I tell them that I put my Lovenox injections in my stomach. Granted, I inject on the sides, but no one has to know. Once people know it could hurt me they refrain. My MIL did tickle me a little with her finger on x-mas eve, but grandma's allowed and she knows better than to go at me with her hand, I think she was happy to finally see some belly. I'm carrying pretty small though still (well compared to the rest of DH's family) and I wore a sweater over my shirt.

This is exactly how I felt!! The only "tummy" I have was there before becoming pg, so please refrain from rubbing my fat! Chat Icon
