Anyone else turn into a full on sissy?

I would ordinarilly use a different word there. I am a pretty tough, independent kind of gal. But I am presently totally sissified about driving home. I want to leave, even though I have no desire to be home, not like I'm working today or anything. I'm just afraid to drive bc of my baby on board.
Anyone know what the roads are like in Suffolk? I'm in Setauket.

I HATE DRIVING SINCE AROUND THE 3RD MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I freak out whenever I'm in the car alone.... if someone is with me, I'm ok... it's just being alone that I get freaked out....

I'm actually nervous for the first time today also. We were given the ok to leave if we want but if the office doesn't close we need to use our own time. I only have 2 days left for the year and 1 I want to use for my glucose test. I guess I could use my other day if needed.

Seriously.... I can't imagine what you ladies are going through right now. I am so glad that I left NY, and don't have to deal with that cr@p anymore.

I will say though that the other day it rained over here - all day - which is unusual, and by the end of the evening, I walked out of the pizzeria after closing, and the fog was as thick as PEA SOUP. I swear.... drivers turned stupid.... there was an accident on every single block on the way home, and we live a whopping 2 miles away from the business.......

I feel better about this. I think I will leave soon- at least while it is still bright out.

Re: Anyone else turn into a full on sissy?

Not only do I hate it, but I also have my "other child" (dh) calling me telling me to be careful going home.
Hello...I know that, but he's making me more nervous because I can hear the anxiety in his voice, and he's in Manhattan still.

ETA: I'm in Hauppauge and one of my coworkers came back from a 45 minute lunch 90 minutes late. She said it's very slushy and getting colder, so that sucker is turning into ice for sure.

Everyone be careful going home!!!!!

I just got home - took me 35 minutes to go 4 miles. I work right next to the Stony Brook hospital and take Nichols rd. down to northern Centereach.
The roads are like a sheet of ice. Be careful on the turns!

Totally! I was thinking this morning about how much I hate patient people, who will hesitate to pull out of a P lot- then I realized that I do this now, and will probably be even more hesitant with children in the car.

Dh has me PETRIFIED to drive in Rain, Snow or any kind of bad weather now. He insists on driving us anywhere if we have to go out.

New England winters are terrible. Just terribleChat Icon And the drivers are no wiser.

i would leave before all the As&holes come out to drive home.

Your Motherly instincts are shinning through already! Isn't that cool!!!

It feels nice. Although the baby is cooking inside you, you are already nervous and protective!

I disagree.... the people here (in Vegas) are the worst... Keep in mind with all the casinos over here - you have these fools that drink in the casinos and then drive around.....

F*&^ING morons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And on top of that a lot of people here are people that have moved here years ago, and have forgotten how to drive when the roads get a little slick... Forget about when snow actually falls.....

Well, I have to admit I am caving and leaving now. I am using traffic and the fact that the dog needs to be let out as an excuse.
If I leave at 6, I won't be home until 8 or 9 at the rate the traffic is going.Chat Icon

Can I counter with stories of drivers in Dallas? I have never seen worse drivers in my life.

I agree, Vegas drivers are the worst. I was living here for a week when I got hit from behind, while stopped at a light!

I agree! At least in NY people know how to deal with the crappy weather. I am a displaced Long Islander living outside of Washington, DC and people down here cannot drive in inclement weather TO SAVE THEIR LIVES!! They see one snowflake or a drop of rain and they go into full panic mode and freeze. I miss my fello New Yorkers!!!

All you ladies please be careful driving tonight!!!!!

Wet and slushy-slightly slippery. Just take it slow and if you have 4WD use that
