Re: Parking with Infant Signs ?...

I'd say up to a year...but don't think anyone would dispute you on it.

Where did you see a sign like that?

An infant is upto 1 year old.

It goes like this:

New born = Birth to 3 months
Infant= 3 months to 1 year
Toddler= 1 year - 4 years

They have them at Stop & Shop. It is the first rows closest to the door.

Re: Parking with Infant Signs ?...

My feeling is that if they can walk well on their own then don't park there. If you ave to carry them, then by all means park there.

I flippin' HATE it when people park there that shouldn't- especially when I see there isn't even a CARSEAT in the car. Man that chaps my @ss.

OMG I love Mommy and Daddy spaces. They are a BIG thing here in the UK and every single store/mall etc has tons of them. You can park in them as long as you are with children.

Heck, some people think that you can park in them without children.

IMO if you have to open your door really wide to get your kidsout of a carseat, you can park in those spaces.

I kind of agree with this. I was shopping today and there were no "parent" spots available. As a result, I'm struggling with a 7 month old and a 2 year old through the parking lot--which is fine because it was my bright idea to have 2 kids and stay home with them Chat Icon , but now if I saw someone park there with say, one 2 year old, I'd be POd...but of course, I would never say anything. Re: Parking with Infant Signs ?...

i still park there. i dont let my daughter walk through a parking lot. she is 22 months old. and im expecting so im not planning on walking very far. i think up to the age of 2-3 years old should be the limit. and if you have more than one child. its not easy trying to get a wagon. get the kid in the wagon and put your personal belongings in the cart so easily. maybe its just me being lazy. oh well.

Re: Parking with Infant Signs ?...

The spots by my supermarket say parking for customers w/children (does not specify infant) so technically if you have a 10yr old you can park there! Chat Icon
I don't let my DD walk through the parking lot either so I use those spots still. I think as long as you have to load and unload a kid in a car seat as well as your groceries you're entitled to park there.

I stopped using those spots when we stopped using the infant carrier carseat aka bucket at 4 1/2 months.

But I agree with the 1 yr old guideline.

Re: Parking with Infant Signs ?...

since the spot specifically says "infant", I would say 1 year is the cut-off.

I stopped using those spots when DD could walk. Because the retunr cart area is right next to it. Also the signs here in GA. are for every single grocery store and at some malls. They are for Expecting/infant parents.

DH hates when he sees cars with no car seats in them parked there...he wants to invent a job where he enforces itChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

One day he was at the grocery store with DS and he couldn't park there, so he parks next to it and he is taking hte infant seat out, the stroller, etc and the people parked in the infant spot walk up and they are a young couple, the guy sees DH and says to the girl "Man, now I feel like an a$$hole" and she just looks at him and goes "Yep" and gets in the carChat Icon
