new patterns?

Baby is due in May but I want to register soon. I'm trying to hold out as long as possible because my friend told me that most products break out their new patterns in January. Is this true? Do you think early or later in January? I'm hoping earlier because I don't know how much longer I can wait to register!

Re: new patterns?

I am due in march too. I heard the same thing, particularly with my stroller, but I decided to register for what I like now and then if anything new comes out, I can just exchange it. My shower will be Jan 26th so I needed to register with enough time.

Re: new patterns?

A lady at BRU told me the same thing, that many companies (we were talking about Graco specifically) come out with new designs in January. You could always register for the item you want (stroller, etc) and change the pattern/design if they have a new one you like. I got a Metrolite stroller at my shower and hadn't used it yet, and they had a nicer pattern online that was new that I exchanged it for.

Re: new patterns?

When I registered (at buy buy baby), I didn't like any of the available patterns and the girl told me they usually come out with the new ones "around" January. I was able to register for the pattern even though it wasn't out because I was given incorrect info...it wound up not coming in until the end of February.

Re: new patterns?

I found this was a huge issue at BRU. I registered in September and my shower was in early November. I would say more than 15-20 items on my registry, including my stroller, we're discontinued and there was a LOT of new stuff when I would go to the store even weeks after registering. It was a little disheartening after spending so much time choosing things to have to go back and do it all over again. Plus, I kept finding bedding I would like better but stuck with my original choice on that. I don't think there is too much you can do to avoid this but I would say keep an eye on your registry and once things are discontinued either make sure you buy it or switch it over so people can buy it. They should email you, at least that's what they did in my case. The worst was leaving discontinued items on my registry and people complaining to my mother how nothing was available online or in the store .....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
Good luck!!

Thats what I am most worried about, everything I pick being disconiunued. I am planning on starting to research stuff in January and register in February... my shower is the last weekend in March. I hope the "new" stuff is in by the time I register or at least the "old" patterns stay around for a month!

Re: new patterns?

I just got an email today from BRU today saying that an item was discontinued. They actually included a link to look at alternate items. It was only a bouncy seat so it wasn't a big deal.

If you do start to register you should find out by email right away if something gets discontinued. Then you can decide if you want to rush out to buy it or just pick something else.
