Just found out that my brother is leaving for Afghanistan!
On January 4th for one year. I am so sad, that's my mom's birthday and his new baby will only be two weeks old when he leaves.
Anyone else have a loved one overseas?

I am sorry to hear this!!
My BIL is stationed in Iraq right now...its his 2nd and LAST tour of duty! He will be there until June or July!!
Your brother will be in my thoughts and prayers!!

i'm so sorry he has to go. my co workers son is over in iraq now and i know it must be hard for you. he's a hero though so be proud!

My BIL is in Iraq for 18 months  It's his second, and NOT last tour, since he is a Captain and will be Lutenit Colonel this year. I respect that he loves our country so much but wish he would stay home! Let just stay positive ladies, if they can get through it, so can we

Thank you for your kind words. I feel so sad that he will only have such a short time with his new baby and will miss all of his/her firsts while he is away.  Not that I'm wishing time away, but I hope the year goes fast so he comes home quicker!!!

My little brother is over in Iraq right now. He has a 6 and a 2 year old. The older one cries every night for his daddy to come home safe...it's heartbreaking.

I am a military wife of a career solider my husbands unit is going to Afghanistan early in 2008 (what unit is your brother in?) There are Family Support Groups here on LI to help ALL family members of deployed soldiers. If you would like to feel free to FM me and I can put you in touch with them, or if you just need to vent or talk
Your brother is a hero remember that and they do have access to computers so keep him updated with lots of pictures.

My brother is on deployment there right now (Navy). He left in October and isn't coming back until June.
