help! where do I rent a car from in suffol county??
apparently you can't rent at an aiport if you are not flying in/out? (or at least mccarthur?) 
its not bad enough all i have been through today - now i have a headache from this....

I've rented from Enterprise on 347 in Port Jeff Station and was very happy with them. Did you check with your insurance? They should provide a rental car if you have that kind of coverage.

I've rented plenty of times at MacArthur airport without flying in or out. I've never been told I couldn't. I do it often. Try calling again - you may have been given wrong information.

Exactly. How do they know/why would they care if you came off a plane and need to drive around LI for a week, versus stopping in and needing to drive around LI for a week?

I would call your insurance company to see what rental companies they recommend. If you have this coverage in your policy they have special rates with rental companies.
