Level II Results (Bed Rest)

I went for my level II on Thursday and my cervix is short. Monday I am going to see a high risk specialist. Has any one ever heard of having a short cervix. What do they do for a short cervix?

That is what I had and found out at 24 weeks. Did they tell you what the measurement was? I was put on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy. When I reached 35 weeks, I "took myself off" and went into labor a week later. Good luck and FM me if you have any questions. Chat Icon

Mine measured 2.4 and they had told me under 3 you are put on bed rest. Did they do an FFN test to test for preterm labor, or check for contractions? They did that for me and all went ok. If you stay on bed rest (and are strict about it) you should be ok. Hang in there. I know a few other girls (on Parenting too) that were on bed rest and everything turned out ok. I know its scary. They did not give me that test yet. I have to see a specialist on Monday. I know my dr told me to get bed rest and I can not work. Did you have to go to the hospitial or get stiched up? I am so scared now. This has been a rough pregnancy.

Re: Level II Results (Bed Rest)

I had a short cervix due to pre-term contractions at 29 weeks. I think that if you have a shortened cervix prior to or around 20 weeks that they stitch you up(cerclage), but after that they do not. My cervix was normal until the pre-term contractions and I was put on bed rest at 29 weeks and will be off of it as of this coming Wednesday(at 37 weeks), but no stitching because I was further along. Some people just have shorter cervixes, whereas others, like me get it from pre-term contractions.

I also had a positive FFN test though....An FFN test is a swab that they do to find out if you are likely to go into labor within the next 2 weeks. If its negative, that is good...but a positive test(like I had)has a really high false positive rate...so basically a negative result means more than a positive result.
Even though mine was positive, Im now almost 37 weeks, so obviously I didnt go into labor within 2 weeks.
My measurement was 2.2, they consider anything below 3 to be low.
Sounds like you may be put on bedrest for awhile. FM me if you get bored....Ive been on bedrest for 8 weeks so I know how it is....

Re: Level II Results (Bed Rest)

A woman I work with daughter had this and had to be stitched up and on bed rest. She just got off of best rest at 36 weeks and got the stitch removed at 37 weeks. She is now 39 weeks and no signs of labor.

Hopefully you are not too far along to get the cerclage, then you won't have to go on bed rest. Give us the update tomorrow. Good luck!!!! Chat Icon

Re: Level II Results (Bed Rest)

My friend's cervix was .093 (under one centimeter) at 25 weeks and she had a cerclage done earlier in the pregnancy, but was put on strict hospital bedrest for the remainder of her pregnancy until she delivered her twins at 34 weeks.
Bedrest is SO important. The more you keep the weight off your cervix and lay down, the better.
