Ugh I just got diagnosed
With rheumatoid arthritis, they took over 50 cc's of fluid out of my swollen knee yesterday, shot me up with cortisone and it is still swollen. They want to treat me with prednisone and methotrexate, BUT I want to research these drugs first becuase my little rother had them during chemo. I know the doses will be different but I am still nervous

My dad took methotrexate for psoriatic athritis and it helped him so much
he has been off it for a year now and no flare ups

methotrexate is a steroid, My grandma has RA. She takes Ruematrex (sp) it is a form of methotrexate but not a steroid the methotrexate when taken with other pills, ie: diabetis, blood pressure pils etc it can lessen the effect of meds. Who is your RA dr, are they good? My grandmother had 3 until she found one that she loves. GL.

I have taken methotrexate iwth no side effects. However we were told to double flush the toilet because it is excreted in urine and can give off something-I forget what. I am on 20 mg prednisone a day and also have no side effects. Good luck....maybe this is an answer for your fert issues(if I remember correctly)? No one ever tested your ANA before?

Take a look at www.roadback.org and see if you can get a hold of a book called The New Arthritis Breakthrough. My dad has a disease that is related to RA and he has had major improvement with the meds that they talk about. FM me if you want more info.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I just wanted to let you know that if you are planning on researching RA, the Arthritis Foundation has a lot of resources. My MIL used to work there before she retired, and I know firsthand how very helpful the people who work there are. The chapter I know of is in Huntington (but I don't know where you're located).
