E. They are too cheap to purchase good earphones and use the cheap ones that come with the iPod. They are horrible for noise.

I think it's mostly because they're young and just like listening to their music loudly.
When I was a teenager I used to listen on the MAX. Now, I can't even go 1/2 way before feeling like I'm going to blow an ear drum.
