Riddle Me This....
when someone is listening to their headphones on the subway (or any form of public transportation) do they BLARE the music b/c they're:
a) deaf
b) want to shut-out the world
c) azholes?
vent done for the day!

I think most people are being a-holes, but some are just oblivious to the fact that we can all hear their crappy music. for example - the dude listening to Celine Dion must not realize we can all hear or he'd die of shame.

When I had headphones that worked, I always kept my ipod low enough so I could hear the train announcements over it. I mean, when your D train suddenly changes tracks to run over the F line, don't you want to know about it beforehand? Oh, maybe should I add that I have partial hearing loss in one ear, so I don't even think deafness is an excuse.
The worst is when you're listening to your ipod and you can still hear someone else's over your own. Again, I vote for D.

case in point. last night on the train a guy was on his cell phone and as the conductor came by he asked her why the train wasn't stopping in Hicksville. It's a train that normally stops in Hicksville. She announced no more than 5 minutes ago that they next stop would be Hicksville, but moron was too busy with his phone in his ear to hear it. He argued with her that it wasn't announced. Well, she was the one that personally made the announcement.
Do we have to be entertained 24/7? can we just sit on a train and read, or think or maybe write in a journal or do some work?
This was a funny exchanged. Everyone around him had a good laugh.
I know, kind of off topic, but I thought I would put it out there.

B...I will admitt I can be an offender of this BUT it's only to drown out the even bigger AZZ holes that feel the need to talk loudly on their cell phone for the entire ride.

I try to keep them down but sometimes it's necessary to have the ipod turned up to drown out all the other loud people.
