Vampire bugs aka bed bugs!!
Bed Bugs bite back - link to video
They are not just the talk of that nursery rhyme Dad says a hotel in Virgnia Beach shut down last week due to bed bugs!!! All the mattresses were on the street.

They're all over NYC, too. I know a couple of people who live in apt. bldgs, whose buildings have been affected. They're so hard to get rid of! One person I know is actually moving because of them, and not taking any furniture with him.

My friend, who moved out of NYC last year, said her Manhattan apartment building was infested with them. They had the place exterminated twice and she tossed out her mattress and tons of clothes.

gross! We just spent the weekend in Manhattan and that's what I was worried about. I think I'm safe though; I hope.

I heard about this and DH and I use a matress cover specifically designed for them just to be on the safe side.

This can happen anywhere. I KNOW it happened at Disney World. I saw the video and heard the story from oen of two people that it happened to (before they settled out of court and added a clause that it couldn't be talked about)

I always take off the comforter at hotels (they are washed only a few times per year) and I check that the sheets are clean and crisp but I don't EVER check the mattress seams. I am adding a bed bug check to my hotel routine.

This has happened at some upscale NYC hotels. They say it has nothing to do with cleanliness so a dirty room is not even a give away.
