what to ask pediatricians..
i put this on the other thread about pediatricians but figured i start a new one....what questions are you going to make sure to ask? i want to make a list so i leave nothing out!Thank you!
also how many are you going to interview?

Babycenter.com had a decent list. I would definitely ask if the doctor is board certified. Also,
*How long has he/she been in practice?
*Where did the doctor get his degree? Where was his/her residency performed? Did he/she work in another group or practice?
*Are there other doctors he/she works with if a solo practice? If so, where are their offices?
*Is there some way to reach the doctor in an emergency?
*How quickly will the doctor see a sick child?
*Are there separate waiting areas for sick and well children?
*What are the doctor's views on vaccinations and breastfeeding?
*Will the doctor come to see your baby in the hospital? Which hosptial is he/she affiliated with?
*What are the doctor's hours?
*How soon would the doctor like to see the baby after birth? When are vaccinations begun?
I'm probably missing some, but this is what comes to mind.
And I liked looking around the waiting rooms and the examining rooms to see what they looked like. Also, if you find the office staff or nurses difficult to deal with at the beginning, that's a red flag to me. Also, personality is important too. We were torn between two pediatricians, but we just clicked with one better than the other.
