Having a girl vs. having a boy
No, we're not TTC!!! Wrong time for that...
I was just wondering if you don't mind me asking, for those of you having girls, and you knew when you ovulated, when did you BD? I was just curious since I have 2 boys, we were charting, using OPK's, we timed BD to happen everyday for the 4 days prior to ovulation and then the day of ovulation, both times I got PG and we ended up having boys. If we're ever blessed and able to have another baby, I'd like to try for a girl. I know you're not suppose to BD close to ovulation, since boy sperm swim faster than girl sperm and boys don't live as long as girl sperm. I would just think that it would take longer to get PG if we tried the method of not BD'ing close to ovulation to try for a girl? You just wouldn't know if the sperm would last long enough. Do you know what I mean?
I was just wondering what is everyone's personal experience on this board. Things have been very stressful for me lately so I was just thinking of something that makes me happy to think about for the future. TIA!!!
ETA: Obviously, when the time comes and we did have another boy, I'd be just as happy! I just thought the next time we might need to try things differently to have a better chance in having a girl.

Re: Having a girl vs. having a boy
well, just to keep your hear up, i know that this method of trying is very efective for boys (like, over 90%), and when trying for the girl, it decreases to like 75% or something.... 3/4 is still good though, and i guess we are all different- first one we "did the deed" like 4 days before ovulation==girl....this one, who even knows, since my lmp was july 7th and i got pregnant on aug 16!! so who knows- and we havent found out yet....

Re: Having a girl vs. having a boy
I was just talking to my DH about this very topic, and how truly 50/50 the chances are!!!
My SIL 'tried' for a girl, they BDed days before O'd (based on the theory you outlined, not sure of specifics but they read all the literature on that) and had a
We, on the other hand, tried for a baby. This is our first baby so we really didn't care about the sex. We BD every other day upto ovulation, and than during ovulation and after - so clearly broke all the rules. We are having a

Re: Having a girl vs. having a boy
Thanks everyone! I just LOVE to talk about TTC, PG, kids, etc. It's in my blood!
If you do TTC for a girl and only BD 1-2 days before O, that would lesson your chances of getting PG each month though, right? Since like I said, you're not even sure if the sperm is still alive when in fact you do ovulate? Do you know what I mean? I know your chances of conceiving every month are low, but we got lucky and got PG the first month both times. I was definitely "loaded" since we did it for days around "O". What do you think? I'd just hate to miss the "PG opportunity" month, after month TTC a girl if it doesn't work.

i have read that your BD position can also possibly effect if you are going to have a boy or girl...

As you read in my post - I honestly think its a 50/50 chance. So, I say - do what is right for you! Try it for a few months before O - if it doesn't work you can just go for it as you did before. That is what I would do.

Re: Having a girl vs. having a boy
I wasn't trying for a girl or a boy...I just wanted whatever. But I saw on "In the Womb" that the girl spermies are slower than boy spermies but they live longer in the uterus, so if you BD before you O, the boy spermies will die and the girl ones get to the egg.
The only problem with this is that you need to know exactly when you are going to O and BD a few days ahead of time and then you can't BD when you O or after because then boys might get to the egg first because they are faster. So you really need to be like clockwork when you O.
