Hospital Bag
Since my due date is now about a month away, I figure it's time to get the hosptal bag together. Am I missing anything important?
Nightgown or PJs Robe Slippers Flip Flops Chapstick & Hand Cream,Soap Light Makeup Admission Forms & Insurance Card Water & Snacks Book or magazines Old underwear Bras & Leak Pads Sanitary Napkins Pillow Going home outfit for baby IPOD
Also, did anyone's DH stay overnight? Our hospital isn't that close, and he was planning to do this. Should we bring a blanket for him or would the hospital provide it?
TIA!

Re: Hospital Bag
I'm not sure that hospitals let the dads stay over. You're lucky if yours does!

Re: Hospital Bag
Ours does if you get a private room. You can have one person stay with you. We weren't going to opt for this originally, but we found out our insurance will cover the cost of the shared room, and the price difference isn't that big. Since it won't be easy for him to go back and forth, we thought this would be worth springing for.
I should probably check with the hospital though and see what they say.

Don't forget something for you to wear home too! I packed some extra clothes for DH in case we are there a while. We have a private room with a shower so if he wanted to clean up in case he came from work he could.

Re: Hospital Bag
Yes, duh! I will want clothes to go home in--I'll probably wear sweatpants. Don't think anything else will fit right or feel comfortable!
I'm going to Beth Israel, so I don't know if it would work for you. I'm a little worried about the travel, but everyone tells me first time moms are in labor awhile. If this doesn't turn out to be true, we'll go to North Shore, but I'd much rather travel and deliver with my doctor than someone I never met before!

You'll be fine, I had a friend deliver both her babies at Mt. Sinai in the city from Valley Stream. It worked out fine.

What about a camera? You might want that in L & D. Also, extra batteries or memory card.

Re: Hospital Bag
Make sure you bring a loose fitting outfit for yourself coming home.
Your feet may swell up alot so your slippers might not fit-bring lots of extra socks in case that happens.

Re: Hospital Bag
I packed a firm ball, it's like a tennis ball, for DH to use as counter-pressure against my back when I'm having contractions.
