HELP! My DS will not eat any regular food

DS is 15 months, and he will not eat any regular food....only baby food with no chunks of any sort (I guess that's level two).

We continually try, and whenver I manage to get something into his mouth, he spits it right out, or gags until he gets it out.

I likes to play with the little graduate puffs, and am hoping that soon the playing will turn into tasting.

The only thing he does put in his mouth is a teething cooking...that's it.

I spoke to my MD and he's not concerned, he's had other kids do this until two years of age.

I'm completely freaked, and want to see some sort of specialist, maybe an occupational therapist or something.

Anyone else have an extremely difficult time with this? And what did you do?

What does a sensory issue mean? Does your nephew go to any type of therapy?

I don't have this problem but I hope that the stage your son is in passes soon. Maybe that's all that it is...a phase. Hang in there and keep trying! Chat Icon

Certain textures bother him. Like how they feel in his mouth and cloths he wears, etc.. He goes to therapy but not quiet sure what kind it is. Its nothing bad hes in kindergarten right now and the teachers love him, they say hes doing excellent. He just refuses to eat things.. He loves his mc donald chicken nuggets tho lol.. Hes my Godson and i love him to pieces.

Im curious as to what it's referred to also.. My 3yr old is very much like this.
He cut his own tags off one shirt Chat Icon (with a kiddie scissor Chat Icon) and he gets all icky and annoyed with too much going on in his food. Chat Icon
takes raisins out of raisin bagels, hates blueberry waffles. (but he does like choc chip cookies Chat Icon) but Ive wondered about the sensory thing, and dont know where to begin either.

Kathy- my 15m old also doesnt eat too much stuff, but its more MY issue than his Chat Icon Im just overly paranoid about choking, but Ive noticed that if I introduce something a few times, he starts to get accustomed to it.
AND I offer it while he's engaged in something (like holding a cell phone Chat Icon ) and he'll make a face but he'll keep eating.

if idid this WITHOUT him being distracted/playing with something, he would absolutely GAG because he doesnt know what's going on in his mouth Chat Icon NOT because he's choking or truly gagging. So I think it's a matter of getting them used to new things.

maybe you can put in tiny pieces of chicken, meatballs or pastina into his baby food, one tablespoon per meal, to get him used to little by little, thicker consistency.

Im the queen of slow-eating, so you can ask me for advice on this anytime.
