How much $$$ do you have left after the bills are paid?

After paying all your monthly bills (your mortgage/rent, utilities, credit cards, loans, car payments, insurance, food shopping & gas) how much money do you have left?

I know everyone uses the money they have left over differently (savings, shopping, entertainment, etc.), but just curious how much you actually have left over after just the monthly bills are paid to put towards the other things?

(I know this has been asked before, but I can't find the past post.)

i chose 0-500, but that's just me, i would estimate DH has about the same left over, only a couple hundred... but fotunately we have large raises coming our way soon and our expenses should be staying the same!

Between 500 and 750

$400 of that goes to saving - the rest just gets blown on anything

I usually have about 500 left over, dh about the same, so I voted 500-1000

not enough thinking of how much I make a month

I responded $2500 because we are currently renting and saving leftover money for a house.

i would say $2000 probably... we each put some in savings for ourselves, and he puts some in his retirement account ( which is for both of us, because he has a great retirement matching program at his work).
we also live in NJ, not LI... so things might be slightly cheaper here, not sure...

You know what I find interesting about these polls about money related things - everyone is always either on the low end or the high end, and barely anyone is in the middle.
Why is that?

we be po' after bills are paid. so po' we can't afford the O and the R for the rest of the word.

It depends if DH has a big comission month or not. We save his commissions mostly which can vary based on the month. We never have nothing left over. Thankful for that.
