Re: Baby Monitor

I have to be honest and tell you with my DD we got a video monitor and a regular monitor. We hardly used it. I live in a ranch and I could hear her without it. At night it was keeping me awake because you would hear every little peep. Really I used the regular monitor when she napped and I went in the yard or something. Maybe if I had a huge house it would be different.

Re: Baby Monitor

We opted out of a video monitor and registered for a regular audio monitor - The First Years - it was #2 on the CR list at $60 with the #1 being a Sony that was $200 Chat Icon.

For a video monitor, CR lists Safety 1st Color-View 08047 as #1 ($190).

summer hand held. I think it's $169.00.

I totally recommend it. I wanted a video and never thought it was useless by wanting a getting one.

I was right.

Re: Baby Monitor

We registered for the Summer video monitor. DH is deaf in one ear, so he feels better having a video monitor, since he can't trust his hearing.

My girlfriend has 2 - one is the Summer one and the other I think is Safety 1st one, and she hates it.

Re: Baby Monitor

the reason why I wanted one is b/c we have were going to have an upstairs and i wanted to be able to see and not only hear the monitor. however, we are still in the middle of renovating so we're still living downstairs. So even if we never had a top floor I would still use and need this.

I wanted it b/c i have an older DD and wanted to be able to see what she was doing or what the baby was doing if she went into her room.

For when we have company over and I don't always want to depend on the lights or noise of the monitor but want to see her as she sleeps.

Put it this way, if they never made such a thing as a video monitor than we would all make do with the regular $40 ones. I know I did 7 years ago with DD #1. But since they do have it, i registered for it and i happend to love it. It's one thing I am glad I have.
After hours after we put her to bed and DH are still in the living room chilling out, I can just simply look at her little self as she sleeps. And then I'll say "awh look at my little baby" I love it and i recommed it. i am sure a lot would agree and disagree.
Put it like this, you can live with out it but I am glad I don't have to.

Re: Baby Monitor

I think we may go for a video monitor and a separate audio monitor (I neurotic like that). I heard the video's audio isn't so strong. I want to taudio b/c I wake up very easily when I hear something.

ETA: No clue about which brands yet since I haven't gone to register with a knowledgeable friend yet.

I am returning my regular audio monitor for this one.
Both moms insisted I have a video monitor, so I guess it's worth it.

Re: Baby Monitor

I registered for the FP 900 MHz monitor... it's just audio. We are in a condo right now, and I have ZERO need for the video monitor...

Re: Baby Monitor

our house has an intercom system, that we can set up as a monitor in the nursery. Their is an intercom in the kitchen, living room, 5 bedrooms, the office, and one outside on the patio, so we are not going to register for a monitor and just use this.

Re: Baby Monitor

I have the Summer handheld video monitor and I will tell you it was the BEST gift I got at my shower. My daughter's room is upstairs, so when she goes down for a nap, I can get all of my work done around the house without having to run up and down all the time. The clarity (both audio and video) is excellent!

When my daughter was an infant, it was reassuring to be able to see her as well as hear her when she wasn't in the same room.

When our new additon arrives and the nursery is complete, you can be sure we will be getting another one of these monitors for his/her room!!

GREAT INVESTMENT - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! : )

Re: Baby Monitor

I have the summer hand held. My husband actually was the one who bought it, I made fun of him because our bedrooms are 2 steps away. I have to say it was one of our most used purchases. It is so reasuring to be able to take a peek. We are actually going to buy another one for the new baby.

We have the Angel Care monitor:

A C monitor

Maybe it's a little insane, but we thought it would put our minds at ease

Re: Baby Monitor

I have the video/audio monitor by Summer. I love it, it puts me at ease when I look over and can see that DS is breathing and everything is ok. It works great, the picture and sound quality are excellent and it comes with 2 cameras for 2 separate rooms.
