OUTRAGE AS NOOSE NAZIS STRIKE L.I.

October 18, 2007 -- A pair of nooses - including one around the neck of a tar-painted doll - were found hanging from a forklift truck on Long Island yesterday afternoon at the Town of Hempstead highway yard in Roosevelt.

The find was the latest in a recent rash of noose hangings that have fanned painful memories of segregation-era lynchings of blacks in the deep South.

Hung nooses have recently roiled tensions in at a school in Jena, La., at Columbia University, at a post office near Ground Zero and at the Hempstead Town police offices.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray said her office and Nassau County cops are investigating the incident. Murray said the highway department, which employs roughly 50 people, is ethnically diverse and has no recent history of racial tension or disputes.

Murray said that she is unsure if the nooses were hung by an employee or an outsider who accessed the open yard.

"These type of hate-filled acts have no place in government or society," Murray said, adding that any town employee found taking part in the noose placements would face serious legal consequences.

RACIST THUG IN S.I. BAT ATTACK ON BLACK MAN

October 18, 2007 -- Cops are looking for a thug who allegedly hurled racial slurs at a young black man on Staten Island before beating him with a baseball bat because he had sat on his car, police said yesterday.

The 20-year-old victim, whose name is being withheld, was with a group of friends Tuesday night and sitting on the parked car near the intersection of Simonson Avenue and Heusden Street in Mariners Harbor when a unidentified white man pulled up in a silver Cadillac and yelled out, "Why are you sitting on my car, n- - - - r?"

The young man got off the hood and started to walk away as the thug drove off.

Minutes later, the man drove back to same street with four other men, sources said.

Those five men, still in the Cadillac, then started arguing with the black man.

Moments later, the driver got out and swung a baseball bat at the man, striking him across the face, sources said.

The men then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Staten Island University Hospital in stable condition. He suffered a broken jaw.

These stories disgust me.

All of the racism/bigotry conversation actually compelled me to look and see what's out there on the internet. Sometimes, I think a reminder of the ideologies that exist out there is needed. I found this thread, which seriously makes me feel like I am going to vomit:

My "favorite" line is "it can never be forgotten of the suffering they unleashed upon Germany after WW2."

I know these beliefs exist throughout the world, but to see it in print just horrifies me.

it's terrible... i mean, come on...it's 2007....

i think a lot of these are copy cats.... weirdos trying to "out do" the last one. obviously, still wrong whatever the motivation

OMG Jax! Thanks for posting this, but it is so disgusting! It just sickens me that there are people who think like this.

This is why i want to leave new york. Aside from the cost of living, especially for young couples just starting out like DH and I, The amount that the violence on Long Island has grown. I know you have to worry about this anywhere but I can't stand the direction Long Island is heading in.

The thing is, I don't think that is something you can escape. Violence and racism is everywhere.
