Watching TV

Dh and I would like to know at what age did everyone's DC started to look at TV? What programs did your DC watch?

Ella is 6 weeks old and we are curious about early did your child started watching any children's program. Thanks!

Re: Watching TV

Both girls around 3 months old started noticing the tv. I have a 17.5 and a 3.5 month old.

But we don't let them watch tv or kiddie programs. I have Baby Einstein videos still in the plastic. Even when a kiddie program is on, she has no interest.

I watch some tv in the am, then i usually turn it off.

My oldest loves Wheel of Fortune, so she watches that then goes to bed. That's about it for us!

Dh and I are not big tv watchersChat Icon

Re: Watching TV

Nate started watching Baby Einstein around 3 months and then Jacks Big Music Show shortly after (at 2 it's still his fav show). Jayden will watch Jack if Nate is watching it, but he doesn't really care for TV.

I used to put him in the swing and put on music DVD's for him when he was a few weeks old. Then at around 3 months I switched to more educational shows.

Every morning after I bathe Ella and feed her I would put on one of her music CD for her and she would listen to it until she falls asleep in her swing.

I think we will let her start watching some educational programs around 3 months or so.

At 3 months when he would actually look at the TV I bought this DVD called Calm Baby that he loved and the Laurie Berkner DVD which he still loves. And I started early with the Word DVD's which I think has really helped his vocabulary. Then he got into Mickey Mouse, Sesame Street and Little Einsteins. Now anything on Noggin, PBS, or Disney he likes. But his fave is Blues Clues which I think has taught him soo much it is amazing.

Re: Watching TV

At around 3 months, we started DD watching the Einstein DVDs. It gave us a few uninterrupted minutes to scarf down dinner. She loves all the Einstein videos still and she's 1 now.

Re: Watching TV

DD has watched a couple of Einstein DVD's, but I don't want to get into that bad habit, so I don't really let her watch TV at all. My son and I battle about the TV (he wants to watch it aLL the time), so I really try to keep it off.

At 3 months Lucas started to take an interest in the tv. Now he loves it but he prefers football (seriously) which I find hilarious. We were out with friends last weekend and a game (without volume) was on and it caught his attention. Chat Icon

Re: Watching TV

My son watched TV from a few months old. He was never a huge baby einstein fan but would watch a little. Honestly although it seemed so over his head he always loved noggin and then he discoverd Sesame street at almost a year old now it is a favorite but he still loves noggin and late night sprout since Noggin goes off at 6pm!

Oh my son too football and forget it baseball is an eye catcher!!! He watched last night when no one else was even in the room he sat there watchingChat Icon

Re: Watching TV

Nikolas really got into the Baby Einstein DVDs around 3 months (i think) and it pretty much became a part of his nighttime routine, it would wind him down.. he would become transfixed!

Now he really won't sit still to watch them but he enjoys them.. he jumps up and down when he hears the music and will glance at the TV when he crawls around and smile Chat Icon

He watches some other things on Noggin (Backyardigans, BluesClues) but lately, he's not as into ANY shows like he used to be Chat Icon I really think it's because he's all over the place now and just doesn't want to sit still, he'd much rather be playing
