Newborn congestion?

The twins both seem a little congested. Claire is whistling out of her nose and James just seems to be stuffy. Is this normal? They are both eating well and sleeping okay! TIA

At the baby care class they said to use an aspirator to clear out their noses. Not sure if that helps you at all since I am not talking from experience (yet!)

My DD is always congested. I have mentioned it to the ped. a few times and she keeps telling me that it is normal, unless she is wheezing.

Newborn congestion seems to be pretty normal. DS had it and the pediatrician recommended Saline spry for the nose. It is pretty safe and can be used as often as needed. It helps to break down the mucas in their little noses.

I agree with everyone else that it's normal. I would run the cool mist humidifier if they seem to be uncomfortable.

As long as it's coming from her nose AND NOT HER CHEST, I wouldn't be concerned. If it's her chest, I would call the ped.

Our ped said this was totally normal early on especially since they only breathe through their nose. He said the best way to tell if there was a problem was during eating. If they were eating and breathing no problem than it was fine - but, if the baby stops eating b/c he isn't breating well enough through his nose - then it is a problem. Hope this helps
